Why when i search for staples on ebay all the cards are sold 25-50% pricier than StarCity, which is considered one of the highest priced retailer?

Doesn't make much sense no?

Then don't buy them?

I'd imagine some people get sucked into the bid wars.

Other than that, eBay has a huge selection of sets of hard-to-find cards, such as foreign foils. That doesn't account for pricier singles, but whatever. Let people overpay.

The only times I ever buy off ebay is when there is an option to put in an offer. I'll put in 15-20% below TCG low to start and can usually get at least 10-15% below the TCG low. Some sellers are pretty loose with their prices and you can get a good discount on some decent pieces. I got a Voice of Resurgence for $10 and an Abrupt Decay for $6 not too long ago

With eBay you just need to prey on the auctions with few bids and spend a while watching other auctions and what people are paying. Many people assume that ebay is always cheap - it isn't. You need to play the game to get the most out of it. My best purchases are 2 lilianas for $100 and 4 scooze for $20. I live in the UK, for reference so prices are usually 20% higher than US prices for singles. Sealed product is even worse. Booster packs are $5 new for example.
