Best value cards to acquire now...

Hi guys I need your help. The last time I played standard was the RtR/Theros block and since then I stopped playing mtg except for some casual EDH with some buddies.

I'm planning to return to Standard when Zendikar/SOI rotates out so I wanna know what cards are seemingly valuable right now to acquire for future standard play (Kaladesh and Aether Rev).

I'll appreciate ur help guys

I am under the assumption that you don't want to get the most expensive cards right now, but rather an investment for further play.

I am confident Panharmonicon will hold, and it is fun (my favorite card of the set).

The others may become valuable but not for certain. These cards have potential, but you never know what will happen over the next 3 blocks. Here is what I thought of: Nissa, Vital Force, Spire of Industry, Whir of Invention, Inspiring Statuary, Baral, Chief of Compliance, Metallurgic Summonings, Metallic Mimic, Aetherflux Reservoir, Paradox Engine,

Some cards right now are good but expensive because of the meta, such as: Verdurous Gearhulk, Felidar Guardian + Saheeli Rai , Torrential Gearhulk, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, Walking Ballista

All in all, Battle for Zendikar will rotate in 2 entire blocks, so just buy whatever you brew with in that card pool. I wouldn't invest for standard now, especially if you don't want to join right away, but I would keep track of some cool cards and save up. Although,Panharmonicon and Paradox Engine are beasts in EDH too!

Panharmonicon and Paradox Engine have EDH value written all over them. The other card in that vein is Planar Bridge, which is an upgrade to the staple Planar Portal. I also think Lifecrafter's Bestiary is a good card to speculate on, because it is something G doesn't have a lot of (Scrying and Card drawing) and it will be pretty decent for both Standard and EDH. The final thing I got to say is I believe all the Expertise cards will be good, in both Standard and EDH (more so in Standard) because they are tempo plays (you can cast them and then cast something else and not lose your turn doing so) and they all so something pretty decent. The worst one(s) are the red one and the white one, but even they are not all that bad.

I'm so grateful for your comments guys, and I must say I agree with both of you. This is indeed an investment for future and i'm buying the cards during this month. Those artifacts look amazing and i really hope the next rotation comes up fast.

Herald of Anguish, Tezzeret the Schemer, Scrap Trawler, Mechanized Production, the earlier suggested Inspiring Statuary, and Spire of Industry, I think might be a few good ideas to get.

I agree with all of the other suggestions earlier said such as Nissa, Vital Force, Baral, Chief of Compliance, Metallurgic Summonings, etc.

Paradox Engine is certainly good in EDH, but it might not be the best speculation target. A lot of EDH players are suspicious that it will get banned.

Of course, you could also make the opposite case: that suspicion is actually preventing EDH players from jumping on it and increasing the value. Which would mean now is the best time to get one.

As an EDH player, I don't know if the suspicion is warranted or not. Yes, the card is good (especially in decks like Phenax), but I haven't seen it in action enough to know if it is ban-worthy.

Whether it is worth taking a risk on is entirely up to you.
