Why no Vesuva in Tron?

Deck Help forum

I've seen some decklists of Tron decks. I speak of the ones that don't splash red. If you're only playing green (for the dig cards) why not put in Vesuva? I think it's the perfect card for a deck like this if you have 4 slots to fill for the Grove of the Burnwillows. But why doesn't it see any play at all in Tron decks?

Maybe because it enters the battlefield tapped? Just a guess.

Also because by the time it's useful you already have Tron assembled. If you don't have all three, it doesn't help you. Win-more and unnecessary in most situations.

Could be useful in Scapeshift perhaps as a copy of Valakut?

Again, you already have a Val down so it's unnecessary.

Jay, having a Valakut in play is more frequently a hindrance.

In Tron it actually isn't helpful. In Scapeshift it enters tapped and copying a mana-producing land isn't great, and copying Valakut for marginal gains isn't worth the opportunity cost. I'd rather have the Loothouse.

I have literally experience with either deck so I couldn't say for sure. Just seemed interesting if you could fetch like 5 copies of Valakut.

With an Omen, maybe. Four Valakuts is already 72 damage with an Omen, though, so if you really wanted to make them feel bad you could deal 90.

The non-Omen versions of Scapeshift only have two Valakuts anyway.

Why don't I need it when I have the Urza assembled? Copying a tower is nice. I can dig out Eye of Ugin to dig out Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and hardcast it way faster. I mean I don't see a big drawback playing a Vesuva instead of just more basic forests.

Yes. But if you have it in your hand with a Tower and a Mine on the battlefield, it won't help you. And it comes in tapped. It's much better in legacy.

Yep, but in this specific case no land other than Power Plant is good so why bother anyway. I can copy the tower to wait a little longer for the power plant and when I have it I can immediately tap out for absurd amounts. I agree that the fact it enters the board tapped can be a little handicap every once in a while but being mana screwed is something that shouldn't usually happen in this deck so I don't mind.

If you're missing the third piece, it is much better to have a color producing land than a tapped colorless land.
