Build a turbofog deck since i Grindclock is back. Clock of Death

While control in general seems like a mayor pain to fight against with this Gray Merchant of Asphodel seems like it could drain me in 1 go...

Besides keeping their board clean with Verdicts and counterspells is their anything i can do to stop it?

If he never enters he never triggers so just counter him.

Counters work well, as does Skullcrack

Skullcrack is more anti-fog than anti Gary. Especially since the part he is worried about is the life loss, not the life gain since he is going for the mill win.

Hushwing Gryff shuts down gary.

Keep their devotion low. If Gary has low value when he ETB's, then you have nothing to worry about.

Torpor Orb with a painted on m15 symbol's always an option :D

Joking aside, hushwing gryff is the best option, another one is responding with removal to take care of stuff like demon or lifebane zombie, to drop the devotion before the effect triggers. Hell, I had one game playing bant midrange where I quickened in a supreme verdict in response to the trigger, that was a fun game.

You could Cyclonic Rift in response to Gary's ETB trigger. Where's your devotion now?!

Even better, you could cyclonic while gary's on the stack. You take 2 but he can't replay it

I've been having trouble with Mono Black too, and I have found these three cards/abilities to be best:

1) Hushwing Gryff : Stops MBD in its tracks! They Gary for 15? How about Gary for 0? It also shuts down Lifebane Zombie , but you don't have to worry about that.

2) Centaur Healer and any sort of life gain: Trust me when I say this, EVERY point of life counts when playing against MBD. So, every life you gain, the higher your chance of surviving is.

3) Detention Sphere and similar cards to keep Devotion low: Bant doesn't have access to a lot of removal cards, but the few it does have access to are pretty powerful. Cards like Detention Sphere , Banishing Light , and Selesnya Charm are not only good removal cards, but are also good mainboard cards.

Some things to consider, hope the advice helped!
