Returning Player Mono Red

Deck Help forum

Hello everyone! I'm returning to magic after a short hiatus and am not familiar with the metagame. I've piloted various mono red decks for pretty much my entire time playing so i figured I'd start there but I'd like some advice before I go and order everything.

Creatures: 15

4 Monastery Swiftspear

4 Zurgo Bellstriker

3 War-Name Aspirant

2 Lightning Berserker

2 Altac Bloodseeker

Swiftspear seems like an obvious inclusion and Zurgo doesnt have the nasty drawback of Firedrinker Satyr that I feel could lose me some close matches. Akroan Crusader is too dependent for this deck. Foundry Street Denizen too seems too slow. Aspirant is 3 for 2 but seems slow. I haven't tested against a real deck so the ability could be more useful than I realize. Bloodseeker just seems like it could close games for me early or mid game. Berserker is really just there. Idk about how Eidolon of the Great Revel is used so I didn't put it in. Rabblemaster is too slow but idk how the metagame is. I've noticed a lot of turn 3 and 4 mass removal so that's what I'm engineering the deck around. Not to come back from that but win shortly after. Goblin Hellcutter looks nice to for finishing an opponent off so I could fit him in there.

Spells: 25

4 Titan's Strength

4 Searing Blood

4 Lightning Strike

4 Magma Jet

4 Stoke the Flames

3 Coordinated Assault

2 Tormenting Voice

Strength is the closest to lightning bolt we got so I'll make it's need for a creature isn't too bad. I play bunch of burn to still win after a board wipe. Instead of reestablishing a board presence I'd rather just burn them out. But there might be a lot of resilient or life gaining midrange and control decks out there. Same reason I don't run Hordeling Outburst or Dragon Fodder (Not a fan of weenie tokens if you couldn't tell lol) Assault is at best removal and/or a shock it could come out. and so could voice.

Lands: 20

20 Mountain

If I go more creature heavy I'd consider splashing white for Erase in the sideboard because I am paranoid of Circle of Flame Any advice on sideboard cards and things to watch out for are greatly appreciated too. Thanks!

I'm to lazy to type out all the cards I could suggest but I will tell you that Mono red agrro is tier 1 standard right now. An Attarka Red deck, a RDW splashing green got Atarka's Command, just won the pro tour. Check it out just google Martin Dangs Deck or check out my RDW Typical Mono Red Aggro .

Oh and Eidolon Is Great. I personally don't like him but he's used to make your opponents pay for spot removal or any cheap spell. Being as you'll be the aggressor the idea is that it will hurt them more. In my meta though mono red is popular and it proved more hurtful than helpful. Sorry for the double post.
