Deck Help forum

Hey everybody,

I've been out of the game for months now, and sold my collection. Now a friend gave me the MTG fever again, and I'm regretting that decision..

I doubt I'll get back into it as much as I did, but I'd still love to have a few decks laying around for fun. Preferably with some sort of theme or overall concept, and preferably under $400 each.

Right now, I would love some ideas for a fun Pauper deck, and wouldn't mind suggestions for my Gushing fun deck.

Even suggestions for another deck would be appreciated :) it'd be completely casual, so even if the cards are banned in certain formats, I'd say bring it.

P.S. I don't want anything too good, because then it'd kill the fun for everyone.

What are your favourite colours and strategies? And how competitive does it need to be? Some kind of black discard deck can be casually competitive and fairly fun.

I'm going all-out Timmy with my decks, so colour doesn't really matter to me, as long as I have flavor.

My aim is to not be very competitive with it at all, but I don't want to lose every game. Basically pose a threat and make it something to talk about. I got tired of using Dredge and Sneak and Show* to win every game.

Black discard has come to my mind, and I LOVE the concept of Pox decks! I've had single cards more expensive than some of those decks, they're fun to play, they create a challenge for both players, and it's not impossible to beat.. I guess that's kind of what I'm going for to the dot :)

I'll work on a budget pox, any other ideas? I'm aiming for a few good, fun decks. Most of which would be budget, but I'd love to have some variety in case a friend wants to try some out or didn't bring their own decks. I got time and money, haha

A red / white weenie human deck that exploits the hell out of Kessig Malcontents and flicker effects like Cloudshift ?

Or even blue / red version with Deadeye Navigator .

I used to have a Blink deck, so that'd be kinda cool to revamp it into a casual format...

Maybe a control/combo/blink, using Tamiyo, the Moon Sage , some counters (especially Rewind ), some search spells, and plenty of ETB effects..?

Oh... I could probably find a way to use cards like Siege-Gang Commander and Krenko, Mob Boss with it :)

It'd walk away from the human aspect of it, but idk..

Dont try and do too much in one deck. Combos reward you for using all your mana efficiently in a turn, repeating the combo as many times as possible. Control decks reward you for having mana unspent. The two are hard to reconcile.

True, I guess Tamiyo, the Moon Sage came to mind for the idea of reusing Cloudshift .

I have a friend who plays High Tide a lot, which is a Combo with a splash of Control, so that's kind of where my mind is at. A few counterspells in a combo deck
