New Idea, Graveyard Disaster (Naya Vintage LD)

Well this is my first vintage deck idea. I just saw Impending Disaster and thought "Gee, this looks F'd up". Description below.

What happens when a lands deck decides to play land destruction? I'm not sure but I think it's the same thing that happens when a lands deck decides to play Dredge. Whatever it is, I sense an Impending Disaster.

Key cards:

Exploration - Gets us ahead of the curve and helps us control Impending Disaster by allowing us to lay down multiple Strip Mine.
Burgeoning - See the entry above.
Fastbond - 1-of in Vintage. There's a reason for it, trust me.
Strip Mine - Controls when Impending Disaster goes off if you're not ready.
Impending Disaster - I hate you all.
Life from the Loam - Gets lands back after Impending Disaster goes off. More likely, you use it before ID goes off to store two lands in your hand, then cast it the turn after because you have either Fastbond or Exploration in play.
Path to Exile - Helps trigger Impending Disaster, sometimes used on our own troops in order to trigger it.
Knight of the Reliquary - An eventual Win-Con and a land fetcher.
Sun Titan - Fetches back a dead Knight of the Reliquary or any of our lands/enchantments. Ya know, like Impending Disaster.

Now for the final 2 key cards: Zuran Orb + Crucible of Worlds. These make an infinite life combo with Fastbond. Our goal is to eventually get these out and then once we've gotten infinite life just continue to control the game with Strip Mine. The Sun Titan can get all three pieces back after we've used Life from the Loam to continually sacrifice lands to trigger Impending Disaster during the early game.

I can't help but feel like this deck loses to Workshops, Belcher, or any other unfair deck. And I'm no Vintage expert, but you have so many dead cards against those decks.

Ok. I wasn't sure if it could work out. I figured the need for so many ways to play extra lands might take away to much from answers. Also I was worried that it was to slow. it's good to hear this info before I go on a proxy spree and talk it up at my LGS. As someone who knows very little about Vintage I'm glad I asked here first.

yeah the crucible strip mine combo is great against a lot of fair decks but with everyone playing moxes and lotus it seems hard to go all in on land destruction and win consistently

My suggestion would be to play one of the mana denial strategies with a deck built around Null Rod/Stony Silence (decks like Reel Fish, Noble Fish, Death & Taxes, Terranova Shops, etc.)

The issue with land destruction in Vintage is the presence of Gush and strong artifact mana. You may be able to blow up your opponent's Tolarian Academy and Underground Sea, but then they just follow up with Black Lotus -> Mox Pearl -> Yawgmoth's Will and don't care.

On the plus side, you have excellent game ones against Dredge (i.e. Bazaar of Baghdad bullshit shenanigans). In which case, winning game one puts you a long way ahead as Dredge often relies on auto-winning game one so it has two more chances to play through graveyard hate.

The other type of mana denial strategy I would suggest looking into (especially if you want to play Fastbond) are the Mono-Blue Control lists that have been floating around. Essentially, you play all the dumb blue draw spells (or The Best Draw Engine In Vintage, coined by Nate Moes) with main board Back to Basics and multiple Wastelands.

Some other decks I think you might be interested:

The last thing I'll add is you probably have something really cool going on with what you've posted, but it just needs refinement for the Vintage metagame. I'd recommend something like:

Mana:

Utility:

Dooders:

Hate Crap:

Sideboard:

If you want a test, the Vintage Championships just ended. Go look at the Top 8 decklists and guess how you would do against them. Lots of Wasteland and Strip Mines floating around.

Vintage Championships Coverage link for the lazy.

A lot of Mishra's Workshop in the top 32, but only 2 in top 8. Also curious to see Dredge put up so few numbers...maybe people prepared for it this time after it took down Bazaar of Moxen? Regardless, I think it's even more interesting that neither the BoM tournament nor Champs' Dredge lists had any power.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. It'll take awhile for me to get a feel of the meta-game and I'll be looking at some decks for awhile to decide which directions I should go in. Either way, I am no longer in favor of my original idea.

One thing I do know: It's time to stop being upset that I sold all my Deathrite Shaman during the modern ban and get them back.
