Need help with Yisan

Deck Help forum

I want to build an Yisan, the Wanderer Bard deck and was wondering if there are cards, that can get creatures from your hand into your deck so that they can be used by yisan.
Also good creatures to get tutored by Yisan since i don't really know that many big creatures with nice effects

Something like Ferropede would be good to manage the counters on it (it's the only card that would work in mono-green that I know of with this ability). Garruk, Caller of Beasts seems like he fits the deck... As far as your question Abundance to get lands, and keep creatures in your library, or vise-versa if you have an abundance of lands. Animist's Awakening could be nice for this too. Cards like Barishi and Elixir of Immortality to restock your library. Scroll Rack is probably the best choice for returning cards from your hand to your library, to a lesser extent Stunted Growth which could also be used on an opponent. Or you could just go with sending them to the graveyard, then returning them to your library route, there would be a lot more options for that. Hope some of this helped.

Big creatures... Mossbridge Troll can be a beast, Craterhoof Behemoth because by the time you get it out you can rack up a ton of damage, Nylea, God of the Hunt for trample, Protean Hulk fits the playstyle of the deck, Panglacial Wurm because you're gonna search every turn, so when you have the mana power cast him on top of your tutor, Elderscale Wurm is just awesome, Soul of New Phyrexia for some protection, and Liege of the Tangle to help amass an army. Hope you found some of these usable.

And just checking, I assume this is casual since it isn't under Commander Deck Help, but I think if you wanna go EDH with this strategy it would work great too.

Thx for your help. Making an EDH deck seems cool since i currently only have on Yisan, the Wanderer Bard

Make your deck about protecting Yisan rather than having a bunch of cool cards you can fetch with him. If he keeps getting removed, all those cool creatures aren't going to hit the battlefield.

What are some good ways to protect him? i know of Asceticism, Champion's Helm and Darksteel Plate. Maybe for for Yisan specifically Archetype of Endurance?

Another thing no one has brought up but that I've seen with many different Yisan builds is to give the deck multiple ways to untap Yisan so you can use his ability multiple times. The main thing to remember is that turn 3-6 (assuming you ramp up early) you're only getting out pretty weak creatures of you can only tap Yisan once a turn. By adding in things like Thousand-Year Elixir you're able to spend that extra mana you'll end up with after using Yisan once to start poping out particularly nasty creatures sooner. There are multiple artifacts that do the trick, as well as a few green creatures.

Also, I second the call for protection. The ubiquitous Swiftfoot Boots still works wonders.

I figured protection would be a given. And proliferate cards would also be nice for managing counters.

Absolute essentials: Prophet of Kruphix, Kiora's Follower. With those 2 out, you can get 4 creatures over your turn and theirs. For maximum fun, Karametra's Acolyte, Polukranos, World Eater, Hydra Broodmaster. Rules note: you can activate yisan, and in response untap him and activate again. Doing that lets you get 2 cards of the same cost (like both 4), instead of normal like 3 and 4 costs.
