Abzan kids

What do you guys think r the most viable cards for this style of deck

kyuuri117 says... #2

You've got the deck listed as a Standard deck with a bunch of non-standard cards.

Mastodon, Nemesis, Queen and Champion have no place in Modern Abzan.

And your deck has absolutely no need for Treasured Find or Salvage.

Try again sir.

Let's get one thing straight: that's a Modern deck listed as Standard. Fix that.

As for the deck itself, there are way too many things you're trying to do. Abzan "kids" implies the curve topping off at Siege Rhino, so I don't know why you have 7 mana cards in there. Next, you need to decide if you're trying to do dredge stuff or just aggro - Grisly Salvage does not belong in an aggro deck since it, by itself, does not do anything but get you one card and get rid of four others that were more than likely gas so you're better off just drawing anyway. Unburial Rites is also pretty shitty here, as well as Treasured Find, but I do see the synergy you're trying to get at it with them. Lastly, you absolutely need basic lands - Plains, Forest, and Swamp, more specifically.

What you need to go look at is some successful Abzan lists and see what they put in, and more importantly see _why_ it's in there.

hmmm i think there's a bug in the validator it should have been downgraded to a qualified Standard deck of a lapsed block. It lapsed out but that doesn't really make it modern.

OR DOES IT

Nemesis of Mortals has its place on modern maybe people can start teching him with Vergevine In salvage decks

Hornet Queen is a late game drop in some cases you play games where both of you guys are top decking it's good to have cards that can put some numbers on your side.

Sandsteppe Mastodon can really add threats to the bored. A buff satyr wayfinder can really add threats to the bored

I WOULD NEVER RUN Nemesis of Mortals IN DREDGEVINE.

What happens when Relic of Progenitus Rest in Peace Tormod's Crypt do what they do best? You end up with an unplayable card that wasnt worth casting. Vengevine can be hard cast if necessary and is very very very very did I mention very unfavorable.

Outside a Mono Ramp deck that I doubt is gonna be on 7 mana by turn 4-5 while still doing other things.. Hornet Queen would never be good ever... Maybe as sideboard 'tech' (Only time its called tech.) for Bloom Titan, and Im sure they would rather cast other things.. or for that matter go off and win already.

...and as for the bolster.. I dont see any reason a skilled opponent wouldnt hold up removal in case you did drop something like Sandsteppe Mastodon.. not that if they had it in hand they would feel the need to waste it.. they would be winning the game by the time yeh cast it.

Turn 4 format bro.. Even my main deck which is SLOW in this format wants a turn 4 Hero of Bladehold. Your hornet queen nets you 4 tokens at 1/1 adding up to a power of 6. My Hero nets me 2 adding up to a power of 7 and my other dudes for 3 less mana.

Scavenging Ooze or Mini-goyf will eat all your creatures as well.. Any opponent would running them would be ecstatic your giving them fuel for their soon to be bigger than your high cost dudes.

Modern is about Efficient spells and removal.. What ever does it for the cheapest at the most relevant times for the smallest down side.

Hero of Bladehold in Modern

huh.

ChiefBell says... #15

It's a popular choice in many builds.

PreZchoICE1 says... #16

O I didnt realize that. Can you link me to a top 8 build using her in the past two years because I cant seem to find one?

Im finding she would be used in Wx token decks but those type of decks arent really competitive in the format any more are they?

kyuuri117 says... #17

Tokens hasn't been a thing in awhile but the new Sorin is pretty darn good with lingering souls. Also, that new XW instant spell that makes 1/1's might be good enough.

Sorin, Solemn Visitor is a lot of fun, I will agree with you there. :)

PreZchoICE1 says... #21

hmm yeah token builds. I understand where she fits now. Im always curious when there's a card I havent really seen much of being talked about for Modern. Thanks CB I recall that decklist now, I didnt realize it was running HoB.Totally forgot about that one off U/W control build in the top 5 as well in that tourney.
