Need a strong Blue/White standard deck

Deck Help forum

I need a really strong standard deck. I want to use blue for removal/control, but I need white creatures. My boyfriend plays a mono-white deck with heavy heroic abilities. I haven't found a deck to beat it yet. The main reason is Mass Calcify. I'll get set up for the lethal attack and he pulls out that crap and boom, I have no creatures. I need help with blue as I have rarely played it. Any suggestions welcome. This is from our standard decks , so I need cards that are standard legal. Help, please.

Both Azorius (U/W) aggro and Boros (R/W) aggro are extremely popular/strong right now.

Here are examples of both those decks:

I'm not a big U/W player, but here's some thoughts.

4 Negate right off the bat deals with sweepers like Mass Calcify. Disdainful Stroke is another option.

Normally I'm not a huge fan of bounce spells, but against Heroic something like Voyage's End could help by resetting counters. Even better, use AEtherspouts.

Prognostic Sphinx is a really good creature to use in blue.

I'm not really sure where to go with the white though. Banishing Light, Suspension Field, and more function as removal. But I'm only familiar with the Heroic creatures you're trying to beat.

Obake and slovakattack, thank you so much. I will try adding some counter spells in the deck.

Counter spells are certainly better, but if you'd rather have a laugh about it. Polymorphist's Jest his team in response to Mass Calcify so they die as well.

Oddly enough when I saw the post my first thought was a heroic deck in those colors. It'd have all the things his deck currently does with a few counterspells (Stubborn Denial is a nice addition to the usual suite) and a little bit of draw (TC and Ordeal of Thassa are the ones that come to mind). Oh, and Battlewise Hoplite. So a little more scry too.

I really like Chasm Skulker against boardwipes. Sure, it dies, but at least you get all them little squid tokens.

Fleetwood-Mat that card actually would fit perfectly, a lot of the blue spells are coming up with draw abilities. PrecintSix6Six, I am finding a lot of the heroic creatures. Thanks for the Ordeal of Thassa suggestion, that would work well with Fleetwood-Mat's suggested creature.

another idea you could use is Gift of Immortality, it can be pretty hax on creatures like Chasm Skulker and Hornet Queen... hehehehe

I went 4-0-1 the one time I've played this deck: U/W Tempo

It's basically a tempo build, 10 white creatures with the ability to make tokens, gain a lot of life, and counter spells. It's expensive but there are some other options to cheapen the deck w/o losing too much power.
