Looking for certain 'good' creature cards

Deck Help forum

I am looking for good critters that are low cost and can do a lot of little helpful things. here is my list thus far:

Knight of the Reliquary, Scavenging Ooze, Mul Daya Channelers.

Unfortunatly Deathrite Shaman was banned in modern a while back, but these 4 cards are a good example of what I am looking for; low cost and does a lot of good crap. I want all modern legal lols.

I am looking for anything like these: but I want something with some moderate lifegain and/or milling too. of course cards liek ooze can twiddle with the enemy as well. Cards like that are nice as they can benefit me (lifegain, fat critter defense) and hinder the enemy (graveyard control and fat critter offense.)

Some others I like are:

Qasali Pridemage, Domri Rade, Jorubai Murk Lurker.

Phyrexian Obliterator is beautiful. If the card doesn't do anything for me I want some wicked sucker like this. I consider him a utility because he stops combat. the enemy won't swing :D. also good offensive tank as he is a 5/5 tramp. also demoralizes the enemy.

Is it correct to term all these critters as utilities?

anyways: you people know more cards than me, I'm relatively young at magic still so my card knowledge is limited. ANY card suggestions are nice.

This is all in an effort to bolster this deck of mine: Synergic Efficiency. if you want to look at it and jog your mind of what I am looking for.

Please read the forum descriptions before posting. The format forums are all labeled "NO DECKLISTS." Moved.

Mul Daya Channelers and Jorubai Murk Lurker don't deserve to be on this list, comparatively speaking.

Eh, the channelers are not bad.

Noble Hierarch

Dark Confidant? You'd have to remove the Ob Nixilis, the Fallen though.

Noble Hierarch is good yes.

I REALLY like Mul Daya Channelers: amazing card. either 5/5 beast or 2 mana ramper of any color. course, I use her in very creature heavy decks lest she becomes a dinky 2/2 worth nothing but being burned. lol, also gives top deck control elements.

Dark Confidant is cool, but he damages me. that's a trade rather than an all around benifit. plus, if I am unlucky (as I usually am) confidant will probably kill me as aggro decks tend to almost get me. the card draw is nice, however (pertaining to my deck) it aint worht the card when I am getting damaged.

It doesn't really fit into what I am looking for since it hurts me in the process: a trade. thanks though, it is a good card for tempo decks, junk etc...

WOT: Dosan the Falling Leaf. not what I was looking for but DEFINITLY COOL. thanks for THAT!! wow, new control deck idea:::

Omnath, Locus of Mana is really cool: that's what I am looking for. mana ramp, (well... mana efficiency) and it can get massive. cool, thnx

Varolz, the Scar-Striped: ooooo, that's nifty. cool.

Yisan, the Wanderer Bard, hmmmm that's like a Birthing Pod crossed with Hibernation's End. cool! wish its activated ability cost less though, 2 would still be fair. still cool.

hey: thanks for that list forforforest. that was helpful!

Adding to my list of efficient cards:

Courser of Kruphix, Brimaz, King of Oreskos, and... sure Kitchen Finks

more like Courser of Kruphix is what I am looking for. it has that lifegain feature too, very nice card advantage and top deck control.

Please tell me why Jorubai Murk Lurker is on that list?

HA, I know right?

Here was why: its 3 mana, not bad, its a 2/4 in black decks which can't be bolted and gives life link to other creatures without tapping: so multiple critters can gain you life and you can choose instant speed.

so the critter is a non burnable wall (well, obviously it can be double bolted but then its worth it) but it is a non burnable wall that gives off lifelink to multiple critters if you want. that was all. Obviously its at the bottom of the food chain on this list. lol

also has some synergistic properties with cards that have triggered abilities when they are targeted by a spell or ability.

I see its value, but it is lower than others in this list.
