Help with an Undying combo Modern deck

I'm trying to accomplish a particular combo involving the Undying mechanic and just want to know the most efficient way to achieve it. The combo will require an undying creature and something to remove its counters like Cytoplast Root-Kin or Simic Guildmage or Ion Storm or Sage of Fables and a Sac outlet to kill it. Then I just need a way to generate the mana for removing the counters.
The combos I've figured out so far are too slow or too awkward to assemble so maybe it just can't be done but here are the 2 deck options I've come up with so far:
Any ideas are appreciated, this is a Modern deck but it doesn't necessarily need to be hyper-competitive.

Going the other direction and using persist seems not only easier, but already has a deck built around it (melira pod). I don't know if you'll find a card to combo with undying nearly as easily, unless you maybe give the creatures persist as well for the turn. There are a couple of spells that give persist, and I'm pretty sure the counters cancel out, so that would go infinite.

I was hoping I could do it with undying, but I will look into Persist decks as well. I think Cauldron of Souls could be the answer for my undying deck but it's cost makes it a little slow and I'd also have to find a way to untap it.

I forgot to mention, this needs to go infinite and have some way of actually winning, so Ion Storm or Geralf's Messenger deal infinite damage or Geralf's Mindcrusher mills or even a massive Cytoplast Root-Kin swings with Trample or some kind of evasion.
