Deck Help forum

Good Afternoon,

I am working on a deck to be competitive to test out on my friends and also the focus FNM magic nights Voodoo Deck. I want to get into the competitive scene and start to enter local tournaments. I run currently run a Thermo-Thing-Vision deck with much success. I want to play something less straight forward.

Budget is not an issue, but I wanted to start with a cheap base to this deck. I want to use Ishkanah, Grafwidow to stop sign my opponents while setting up win conditions.

I need side board cards to removed artifacts and also enchantments to swap out with my black control cards. My mana base will be updated with with Woodland Cemetery.

I am really trying to push my own deck concept rather than net deck something off line. Grim Flayer is a great card, but i Hate the art, and would rather not field the card as it is very cookie cutter.

Let me know some thoughts and ideas. I would like to talk about deck to counter my local meta (red burn, dragons, wallings (Stuffy Doll + Platinum Emperion + Platinum Angel + Avacyn, Angel of Hope.

We will be hosting a a tournament at my house at the end of the summer. I will need to beat all the decks list above.

no cards are banned, but the only rule is no infinite loops.

My dreams is to get into the the elite magic screen and chase the meta. This is my new passion as competitive online gaming and tournament level paint ball is something I must give up.

My Family i s from New Orleans and want a deck themed around voodoo. I hate stuff doll but would fit my deck and would consider running it.

Thank you.

I don't get what you ask for here, matthewl337 - do you want to play a competitive deck, OR do you want to do your own brew with Ishkanah, Grafwidow and voodoo-stuff? I'm fairly certain that there's no competitive voodoo deck hidden in the modern cardpool, and if you point out that for rather random reasons, you don't want to play some of the better cards to synergize with your durdly favorite card, it lowers the ability of your deck to win even more.

Not to say that Ishkanah, Grafwidow is unplayable, but there's only 10 modern decks on mtgtop8 that have played it (half of them in sideboard). If you compare it to other 5 mana creatures that are played in modern, do you think it's a strong card? Why? Under what conditions would it help you win a game? What other cards do you need to play, in order to create those conditions?

And unfortunately, the 3 tokens it can make doesn't help block of early attackers in modern, since the "early" part of the game is long gone by the time you have 5 mana. If you wanted something out of the activated ability, you could make some kind of BG tron deck... but tron demands enablers like Sylvan Scrying, Ancient Stirrings, and Expedition Map, which are ok with delirium, but doesn't have any voodoo feel whatsoever to them.

I am currently at work and thank you for the amazing feedback Voodoo Deck is the link to the deck.

I was thinking of possibly tossing in Birds of Paradise to help with mana acceleration.

I will follow up with all the wonderful info shortly !

Just passing though but I believe that the correct link is Voodoo Deck, Next time try copying the deck name found in the URL for your link as there are many repeated deck names on the site.

On a side note (I'm don't know allot about voodoo) but you could build a pretty viable BG delve deck with some grave yard tricks
