Help this [noob] girl kick butt at FNM! (B/W Orzhov Midrange)

Deck Help forum

Hello everyone. I just stared playing Magic and would love any and all suggestions or thoughts regarding my "Dead Life" deck. I'm trying to get it ready to win some matches at FNM.
If you think my deck looks good, please vote it up to let me know the fact.

Now I'm not a professional or anything, but I rarely run more than 22-23 lands. I'd suggest maybe taking out the 2 Vault of the Archangel and throwing in some more removal like Oblivion Ring or Fiend Hunter or something.

The deck does look quite good, though. I might suggest you considering Cloudshift if you're going to be using Obzedat, Ghost Council. Those two have some nice synergy. Even if you don't take any of this advice, which is fine, I'd still say that it would be imperative to play against some of your friends just to see how it pans out. Then you'll know if the land/card ratio is appropriate and what problems arise when you played the deck.

StealthyGunnar: Thank you for the input! I have actually play tested the deck just a little bit. Oddly enough, I have never mana flooded, only mana screwed -which seems weird given the fact that I have 25 land cards (same thing for another player on here who test played my deck against their own). That being said, I would like to add more removal such as Oblivion Ring, just not sure what to take out for it.

Cloudshift is an interesting consideration, but given that Obzedat, Ghost Council has its own bounce mechanism, I feel like that card slot can be better utilized.

Other thoughts for me? Thanks again!

That is indeed odd, haha. It could be the way you're shuffling. I know I've been mana screwed plenty of times as well. I don't really have much more advice. I guess I would say that I've always loved the cards Killing Wave and Stab Wound.

Killing Wave is a great board wipe. Either they sac their creatures, or they lose life. It's a win-win. Stab Wound I've fallen in love with simply because it stops the creatures that I have problems with blocking, and the opponent loses 2 life each turn because of it.

Now I'm not sure how well those two would work in this deck, but those are just some of my personal favorites. If you do decide to go more with black removal, Blood Artist would be a nice decision. Also, Cremate would be a nice card to sideboard if you find yourself stuck and need some draws.

Have you considered Silverblade Paladin? It would combo well with Thrill Kill Assassin and Vampire Nighthawk.

StealthyGunnar Wouldn't Killing Wave wipe my board too? The last thing I need it have my board wiped and the last thing I normally have to spare is life until I can get Obzedat, Ghost Council out since the deck is designed to take damage earlier on and then stabilize and gain.I use to have Cremate in my sideboard, but I replaced it with Rest in Peace

CharonSquared I have considered Silverblade Paladin ...couple of problems though: what would I take out to make room for him? Also, my Vampire Nighthawks never last long enough (Searing Spear's favorite target) to allow me to soulbond, lol.
