Food Token EDH

Deck Help forum

With the food tokens being a big thing in Throne I wanted to make an EDH deck around the food tokens but I'm not quite sure what the end goal should be. There's a lot of good cards that have to do with food tokens but each seem to do their own thing. I was thinking about using Yarok, the Desecrated as my commander because I can double my food tokens (most of the time). Thoughts or suggestions on what to run or maybe alternate Commanders that would work better in a food token deck?

(Sorry if this is a repost, this is my first time using tapped out)

One of the commander that I think that you can use for food tokens are the Shattergang Brothers , because the ability that makes you sacrifice an artifact takes advantage of that food. Also the most popular commandant for decks that use some food is Korvold, Fae-Cursed King .

And here I have a list of the most powerful or decent Food cards for EDH:

  • Oko, Thief of Crowns : This is the best food card, and is the card that makes Yarok a good choice for this style of decks, because with the Brothers or Korvold you don't have access to him.

  • Taste of Death : This is devastating in edh, and works well with the Brothers and Korvold, because that decks normally have a lot of creatures to sacrifice.

  • Cauldron Familiar + Witch's Oven combo: very good cambo with cards that are good on their own, more powerful with Yarok.

  • Gilded Goose : Decent mana dork and good food generator.

  • Savvy Hunter : Is another excellent food generator, that gives card advantage having food.

  • Gluttonous Troll : It was designed for brawl, and also is very good for a edh food deck.

I don't know if Trail of Crumbs is good here, because Throne of Eldraine is the only set with food tokens. That means that there are few cards that generate tokens, but can be powerful if you have Goose or Oko.

If you go with Yarock, Mechanized Production could be an alt win-con.

I would read this EDHREC article on Korvold food- I think it will give you an idea of exactly what the play patterns of your deck should look like, as well as provide a few building tips!
