Den Protector in frontier

So a couple of my "newer to magic" friends want to get into frontier, but the only way I'll get into the format is if I get to play Den Protector in some way. One issue, I'm not sure how to build around the card. Last time I ran protectors it was in bfz standard. I ran Deathmist Raptors and other good-stuff, so should I do the same thing but with an upgraded mana base? Which colors should I use? Thanks in advanced.

Another option is a control route.
I ran Den Protector in Sultai control for a little while in standard. Between Den Protector and Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip you pretty much always have graveyard return on demand. Just return your removal and counterspells to your hand.

A Jund version wouldn't be bad either. You would get to play Kolaghan's Command and Goblin Dark-Dwellers along with other good options.Other then Jund my next favorite would be what Was suggest above and that is the sultai control shell seems fun and flexible.

I talked to a friend and he suggested junk with Eldritch Evolution, but I like the idea of chaining together K-commands. Going to try to form a decklist for Jund and work from there.

Temur has some really sweet morph creatures if you want to go aggro. If you prefer controlly midrange I'd build a G/B Delirium shell with Liliana, the Last Hope and maybe even Emrakul, the Promised End
