Consistent

Deck Help forum

Hello fellow magic players i usually play casual therefore some of the decks i play can be good or horrible. I would like to know if anyone out there has a deck that is soooo consistent i almost never lose. So if i have lands i don't lose kinda concept. I wan't my friends to be scared when they play the deck, i want my friends to know the outcome if they play the deck. I play casual for economic reasons so if anyone has a budget deck 10-100 that is consistent as vintage vs standard please post.

The cards that allow for the most consistency are expensive because they are played in legacy decks. AetherVial is great for consistency, but a playset blows your entire budget.

All the ideas I have that improve consistency beyond the general advice of "usually run playsets unless you have a reason not to" and "your mana curve should look like either a bell curve or a downward slope depending on the decks speed" are a bit pricey. I could probably make a decently consistent casual B/G midrange deck without any gimmicks for under $100 but I'm not sure if it would be any better than what you have without seeing your decklist.

Modern Affinity and Soul Sisters are consistent and aggressive shells with a rather cheap base. Just gotta skimp on the quality for the budget.

Nope. Run modern infect. It's consistent as long as the opponent doesn't know what to do. Scary deck to face unless you're highly prepared. Can build it for $50-$100

"I would like to know if anyone out there has a deck that is soooo consistent i almost never lose."

No. No one does. Bad question.

A lot of consistency comes from deckbuilding. Four-ofs of the cards you want to draw every game, and some form of velocity through draw power helps you get to the cards you want against certain decks. Tutor power like Green Sun's Zenith is good for consistency as well. I'm not going to give you a super consistent deck, but if you want to never lose play the following:

10x Black Lotus

10x Channel

10x Banefire

10x Mountain (choose a nice art)

20x Demonic Tutor

The guys playing casual though, and in the realms of casual there are certain decklists that strike fear into the heart of mine. I'll draft somethign up in a second.

Yes. It involves about $3000 and turn one Channel +Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

Here you go - Budget Modern Infect

Try that in casual

I'm amused that Infect is always the budget strategy people go for when they want to win. It's not fun to play against for casual players.

I suggest you find a deck that really fits your style. Maybe find a cool, budget combo deck with lots of draw power to get you that consistency, or an aggro deck that has a lot of redundant creatures to win quickly with consistency. I recommend against playing something that your friends will hate and will have a hard time interacting with in interesting ways.

I think most people hate decks that are too fast to really interact with. Regardless I both completely agree and disagree with you - annoying your friends with a deck that's really not fun isn't a great thing to do (and therefore I agree) BUT the original poster didn't specify anythign about fun or fair, he merely said consistent in victory (and I therefore disagree).

I drafted this up for consistency: B/G Midrange for Consistency I'm not spending too much time on it since I'm never building the deck. You can get all the cards except basic lands from TCGPlayer for $98.79.

Hahahaha thank you ChiefBell and thispersonisagenius i knew someone would comment on that "a deck that will almost never lose" i totally disagree i think this is a logical question as i play casual in which some decks just rarely lose i see your thinking but IMO you do not need 3000$ dollar deck to win almost everytime. Thank you ChiefBell and gidgetimer for constructing these decks i will playtest them.
