Combo question

Is Omnath, Locus of Mana and Overgrowth an effective combo? Can you explain how they work together a little more for me? I may be just completely overthinking this. Thanks.

Here is the deck they will be used in:

Its not really a combo, more so a nice synergy. When you tap the land that Overgrowth is enchanting, it will add whatever mana that land would produce, and an additional as well. This would all go into your mana pool, and Omnath, Locus of Mana would keep the green mana in your mana pool and become larger. As long as you don't spend that mana, Omnath will retain his power and toughness.

lemmingllama so my green mana wouldn't tap and I can have unlimited use of the current mana?

You should look into what a mana pool is. It seems that you're missing a core game element, especially if you want to play with omnath

To explain this, land and mana are separate parts of the game. Land taps to produce mana, which goes into your mana pool; land is NOT mana, and mana is NOT land. Land makes mana, unless otherwise stated.Does that make sense?

Land makes 1 green, Overgrowth mkes 2 green. You have 3 green. Omnath gets +3+3 and that mana can be saved. It is an ok interaction, not a combo.

So every time I tap for mana it goes into a pool, and omnath doesn't let that empty so I have unlimited use of my mana?

Once a mana is removed from a pool, it is gone. you can't spend it willy-nilly, over and over. Onmath basically just removed the game rule that forces you to empty your mana pool between phases. Three mana will still only pay for a Verdant Haven, you cannot spend three mana seven times to cast a Craterhoof Behemoth. But with Omnath out, your three mana doesn't need to be acquired during your main phase or whatever, it can be mana you acquired last turn.

yea thats what i meant. you have unlimited use of the available mana. so could you theoretically cast 2 Verdant Haven's in the same turn right?

In your original scenario, let's say you have exactly one forest with exactly one Overgrowth on it. There are two different things that can happen from here:

1: You do not have Omnath on the board - You have access to three mana that you may use to cast spells like Verdant Haven during either main phase. If you tap your land to add that mana during your main phase one, you will not be able to use it later if you do not use it during your main phase one, until you untap at the next turn.

2: You have an Omnath on the board - You have access to three mana that you may use to cast spells like Verdant Haven during either main phase. If you tap your land to add that mana during your main phase one, you may use that mana at any point during your turn for the rest of the turn, or later on, for as long as you control Omnath. If you do not use that mana before untaping for your next turn, it will still be in your mana pool if you control Omnath. So here, if Omnath is unaffected by spells or abilities (say, he gets Path to Exiled and then the turn progresses to the next phase), you have 3 mana from your last turn, and an additional 3 mana from this turn that you have access to.

Basically, Omnath allows you to roll over your mana to the next turn.
