hello...bare with me please, i will try to keep this as short as possible.
question: can Lost Legacy be abused?
why am i asking this: ive just played a black/red vehicles deck in standard (decklist not important). ive just nonbo'd Lost Legacy Eternal Scourge and Scrapheap Scrounger.
lost legacy yourself for the scourge to place it in exile,draw 4.use the scrounger to get the scourge back in exile if necessary or wait till they all hit the graveyard and lost legacy yourself again,draw x. i did this a lot.rotating the scourge wherever i needed it,blocking to death and casting wasnt an issue cus i got a few lands on my extra draws and most my curve sat at 2/3 mana anyway.im not saying this was AMAZING but it worked well for that match.
but that got me thinking..
if fetches are used to thin out decks to make draws optimum,why cant you use Lost Legacy to get rid of the jank you dont need so your left with the good stuff that you'll draw into to finish the game?
do you get what im saying?
could Lost Legacy be used to strategically thin out your own deck for advantage? and are there other synergies with other cards im not seeing (multi-format)?
Maybe use Relentless Rats or Shadowborn Apostle. Bad but funny!

there's just something niggling at my guts about this card's "potential" use.

bulid a deck with Lost Legacy in it, include Reliquary Tower , then slam 15 copies of Relentless Rats and Shadowborn Apostle in it,shuffle and hope for a 2swamp opening hand with a Lost Legacy and a Reliquary Tower to live the dream..

i suppose my question should be: "if you target yourself,is there another card which allows you to do something cool/crazy/game winning with Lost Legacy"
im open to all suggestions, i really wanna work this out, even if im chasing a lost cause..i need to know :)

It actually is pseudo "Draw 4 for 3"... once. The rest of the copies are awful.

You're never going to have four copies in your hand though. Maybe if you exile like...Squadron Hawk, but why not just play something like Painful Truths or Read the Bones?

The first thing that comes to mind is to use it to exile a Hedron Alignment from your deck, as there are very few ways in standard currently that can exile this card. Seems like a pretty terrible idea however.

I think perhaps, that some of you may be misreading Lost Legacy.
The targeted player only draws cards for each of those named cards that gets exiled from their hand. Exiling all of your Shadowborn Apostles will not let you draw 20+ cards.
So, with that in mind, there's not really anything that can be abused by targeting yourself with it. The Eternal Scourge route is pretty cool and certainly helpful for deck thin, and maybe some modern decks will go the Apostle/Rats route to majorly thin the deck for something as well, but at the very least, in standard, it's not a busted card. And likely isn't anywhere else, either.

The closest I've come up with is Shelldock Isle. Problem is, with all of the deck building restraints this forces on you, there's just no way to pull it off consistently. It's a jank deck for sure. Play it only in casual.
Incidentally, you don't have to exile all copies of the card, so if you just exile those from your hand, it becomes a reasonable but very restrictive looting spell.

Psychic Surgery? You forced him to Shuffle his deck... and exiled now all of one "Target Card" in his/her deck/hand/grave, and a 1 of 2 card choice after that on top of his/her library.... exiling up to 5 cards is pretty huge. Did you have CMC and 2x Legacy's in hand? Do it again... exiled 10 cards... "ok, and............ Pass turn, go ahead" LMAO
Rakshasa Vizier ? Shadowborns/Relentless Rats you would just need to get them into Graveyard to trigger Vizier ability?..... then use the Lost legacy... something there? and a bunch of +1/+1 counters for Vizier??
Search the City? Is there something weird there? Shadowborns/Relentless Rats..... you won't have one of those cards again in your hand?
Just thoughts to add if anyone else sees something......

I mean, you also have Misthollow Griffin or Torrent Elemental, if you're looking to Lost Legacy yourself.
But yeah, as a draw engine, it's no good for obvious reasons.

firstly id like to thank everyone for their answers and not getting in my face for being stupid
secondly i must give apologies and man up..i totally misread the card.."draws a card for each card exiled FROM HAND this way". its not gonna do anyone any good. i genuinely thought you could one shot someone with tutleage triggers after exiling all your rats and drawing a bunch..

still on the Sphinx's Tutelage Shadowborn Apostle/ Relentless Rats Lost Legacy vibe.. what if we protect the apostles/rats by putting them in exile to avoid the legacy trigger and then get them back into our hand for the next casting? "stocking up ammo" style,so you can name them twice

I understand what you are saying, but it's simply not good.
Let's say it's turn 4. There's 3 cards in your deck that are horrible right now. You have a 3/50 chance of drawing one of those cards. That's a 6% chance. Would you want to pay 3 mana, only to remove that small 6% chance of drawing shit? I don't think you would, when you could play cards like Lili ;)
