Bye Bye Tron, Hi there Dredge

Deck Help forum

Hi there. I have been playing Mono Blue Tron for about a year and recently i decided to leave my deck behind and start a new deck. I dont wanna spent a lot of money, so i can sell/trade my most expensive cards from my deck. I am thinking about making a Dredge deck. Is dredge a good choice?

Youre dead in the water to just about every sideboard in the meta. So its up to you, do you really like winning game one and then gettin shot with a silver bullet? Or do you want more consistencies with a deck...

Dredge has to be the easiest deck to sideboard against in modern. Bulldawg1310 is right. Your deck would get HOSED by relic of Progenitus and Rest In Peace. Thats all it would take. Doesnt even matter how good of a player you are. One well-timed relic and you have lost the game almost immediately.

Keep looking through the modern meta, and Im sure youll find more ideas. It took me a long time to decide on a modern deck. Eventually I settled upon Collected Company as my preferred play style. Specifically the bant spirits version. Resilient and not always expected.

Thanks for the replies my friends. I definatelly dont wanna lose cause of the SB hate. I guess i will keep looking. One other option i have is upgrade my U Tron to eldrazi tron or legular tron, but these versions dont excite me.

Go with E-Tron. Its very stable in the meta right now, very powerful and you can add lots of spice without deviating from main gameplan. If you do your typical lists, its gonna run you about 1100 bucks though. I have found a way to make tron about 65 to 70 percent successful, without the chalice and karns, cut the price tag by about 400/500 bucks

Toasty042 i think you forgot about Leyline of the Void i have a mono black deck that i built just for fun and i side that in against my lil brother who just built dredge and hes hatin himself right now. I also run it as a 4 of in the sideboard of my 8 rack deck. Needless to say, graveyard shenanigans dont fly with me!

People put way too much value in sideboard cards against dredge. Dredge does not auto lose to any sideboard hate. It CAN but is unlikely. The only ones you really need to worry about is rest in peace and leyline of the void. Relic, spellbomb, scooze those all are not even good against dredge. Sure you will get silver bulleted sometimes but I wouldnt even say 50% of the time you play against someone with sideboard hate.

Funny thing is that a few days ago, a guy topped8 in a GP with dredge against all this hate.

I'd suggest something else:Affinity. All about Tempered Steel and small guys really. Dredge is fun though, do what you want, mate.

I like affinity, but it is really super expensive. Also, i have been playing with artifacts in every format. With U Tron, i use artifacts, my commander is Glissa, so i abuse artifacts. So i want something different now. Maybe i will stick with tron and upgrade to Eldrazi tron.
