You can test it on untap.in (google it) or cockatrice online to get an idea if it would work.

rorofat If you give a guy double strike, your creature gets blocked, but first strike kills the the blocker would the second strike not hit your opponents life total? Just wondering.

You can ask rules questions in the Rules Q&A, linked in the header bar.

A blocked creature can ink deal combat damage to the defending player or planeswalker if it has trample or a similar ability (Rhox). If a creature with double strike kills the blocker in the first combat damage step and has no remaining blockers in the second combat damage step, it won't deal combat damage. The creature would need trample to hit the player.

Thanks Epochalyptik. I play with quite a few ppl and none of us was sure. 3 of which have been collecting and playing since MTG was released in NA.. Far from being new to the game but I haven't played double strike cards since Zendikar in 09, and back then we thought double strike had a trample like effect. Just haven't looked into it, wish I had because I've lost many games from ppl thinking it worked like that. Pretty sure a couple tournys too, back in the day... xD ahahahahaha
