Answer to Anger

Deck Help forum

Something Wicked is my current standard deck. Its basically human tribal using Xathrid Necromancer to make removal and wipes obsolete against me. Problem is, Anger of the Gods hoses everything here aside from Brimaz, King of Oreskos . I am tossing around 2 different remedies tot his problem:

Remedy 1: add in a few Rootborn Defenses in the sideboard to make sure the matches with Anger don't make me sorry I played this.

Remedy 2: Make the creatures in the deck all white, making [brave-the-elements]] the obvious choice...replace Pain Seer with Precinct Captain , Tormented Hero with Dryad Militant , and add some Read the Bones in to generate card advantage I would be missing with out the Seers.

What do you think the real way to go here is? Honestly, with Journey into Nyx right around the corner I am considering the all White option anyway using black for removal, Thoughtseize , and Read the Bones only (and the Necromancers of course since they are the backbone of the deck]].

Brave the Elements helps atleast your white creatures.

You should probably side out Necromancer against X/red control decks for Sin Collector in game 2.

I think that Rootborn Defenses is definitely your best bet. Not only does it save all your guys from dying, but it can get you another Zombie token in the process.

By the way, you linked someone else's deck by accident. Yours is this one: Something Wicked.

Aren't your TKs and postboard Duress s/Sin Collector s stopping it already? idk, Rootborn Defenses just seems so clunky.

I would sideboard some of the cards mentioned above. Don't completely overhaul your deck for a sweeper that sees relatively little play and is usually a sideboard card itself. You definitely need to have a post-board plan, however, since it also ruins the day for Atheros. Rootborn Defenses is solid since you might even get a bonus token from it. Also, running Cartel Aristocrat can help protect your guys from exiling in general.

I like the idea of Rootborn Defenses instead of anything else suggested, because it will protect all your creatures regardless of color, and it will also protect against Supreme Verdict , another card you may have to face off against in the control-heavy meta right now. Playing Athreos, God of Passage you might want them to be destroyed, but you need to be prepared just in case.
