A sultai by any other name, a Mardu is just as sweet

Deck Help forum

I have decided to build a new kind of control... but couldn't decide on colors. I made a four color deck, which blatantly sucked. I ended up with two decks, but I can ONLY build one (only that much muney.. I get 1 deck per cycle :P) I just want to know which deck is generally stronger and more competitive.

Your sultai deck seems stronger, but it could use some of the stuff that doesn't exist yet, gotta wait for all dem spoilers :)

Wait for 100% of the spoilers to come out. Even better, wait for the pro tour to happen to let you know which clans will come out on top.

Just got off an 11 hour shift at work, and this little jabroni comes in insulting my clan and being bad at the internet. Excuse me if that was uncalled for.

Out of the two lists that you've provided, the Mardu one has better win conditions, but the Sultai one has a better control package.

The Sultai deck needs something to the tune of Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver , or an effect similar to Caustic Tar (not necessarily that, just something that stays around and hurts them every turn).

The mardu deck needs more reliable forms of removal that aren't damage based, as well as more disruption elements.

When I mentioned Caustic Tar , I mean an efficient version, like Nephalia Drownyard , should it come about in Khans.

The new delve kill spell could be spicey especially if you're running fetches

I agree that the sultai is better, but there are a few cards in there that could be either replaced or sideboarded. Phyrexian Revoker is excellent against Elspeth, Sun's Champion , so I can see it being justified as a mainboard card, but I still suggest side boarding it. I also think that maybe sultai charm should be replaced by something a little less consistent but more effective (just my own oppinion thought) so I suggest AEtherspouts .

I vote for Sultai with Empty the Pits as a win con. I think those colors are just better suited to control, though Mardu has some spicy removal coming out.

funny thing is, noone talks about improving the Mardu deck.... anyway I touched the Sultai deck up and added a side board to both, thoughts?
