Witty Retort

Custom Cards forum

Here is a simple and clever spell that I devised, recently:

Witty Retort Show

The main reason that I made this card was so that there could be a card with "that's what she said!" as its flavor text, and that name seemed to be perfect for such a card. I added a cantrip to it because its effect was too limited, otherwise, even for such a low mana cost.

What does everyone else think of this card?

Hard counter + cantrip for ?

Reconsider.

Strictly better Disrupt by a long shot? Seems pretty broken.

Instant staple 4 of in pretty much every format... Try making it counter unless opponent pays or maybe if you want it super overpowered...

Even with a tax of it's a Spell Pierce that replaces itself. Too strong. A more limited Force Spike that cantrips might be a more reasonable power level.

Or 1 and a blue?

I'd say take off the cantrip. It's completely broken as-is.

Maybe try this...

Witty Retort

Counter target instant or sorcery spell unless its controller pays . If they do draw a card.

Might need rewording, but then its an easy to dodge spell that only cantrips if it fails to counter... Still OP but way less broken.

It seems that the general consensus of the users in this thread is that the spell is too powerful with a cantrip, so I shall remove it, as seen, below:

How is the spell, now?

Seems doable now. Playable but not game-breaking

It still seems a bit good, saying that Dispel is modern playable, I still like it 1u counter and draw. It has a great name for its purpose.
