Witcher Cards

Custom Cards forum

Having beaten the Witcher 3, I felt like making two cards from the 'Witcherverse'. One of them is kind of a spoiler, so I'll put a link to it instead of just posting it.

Geralt Failed

And here's a Ciri

does not get to destroy creatures, you would have to change his colors should you want that effect on him. Otherwise the card seems fine to me, but I haven't played The Witcher games before.

I wouldn't say the Ciri card is much of a spoiler. I haven't finished the story (although I'm about to go to the Isle of the Mists), and it doesn't tell me squat about the ending. Also, she appears to have been... augmented in that art. But that's neither here nor there. Honestly, she seems underpowered. The +2 needs to be reworded to either be a triggered ability ("when that creature deals damage...") or a replacement effect ("...return that creature to its owner's hand instead."). The replacement effect will be stronger, but I'm not sure which you meant it to be, so I can't judge that yet. -4 seems like a steep price to pay for a slightly better Flickerwisp ability. I could see that being a -1 or -2. The -10 seems fine. Should win you the game in most cases, which is what ults should do.

Geralt seems / to me. I don't see green in him at all really, unless you're trying to extrapolate that from him being a mutant. Otherwise, all he does is kill nature's creatures, not protect them. I think making him black and white makes more sense, and keeps his current abilities in the color pie.

I haven't gotten that far into the Ciri part of the story, so I can't comment there.

I agree with the above. Geralt doesn't have much to do with nature, and being B/W would emphasize his character that is neither the heroine that you want to win every time, nor the monster that needs to be killed.

Another idea you might want to explore is an artifact that gives a "contract." Maybe something along the lines of "At the beginning of your upkeep, you may choose target creature. If that creature dies this turn, you may add two mana of any color to your mana pool." It could also be life-based. Or, you could have the card name a creature when it enters the battlefield, and whenever a creature of that name dies, do X.

There's also the possibility of making the Signs into spells.

Just throwing out ideas!

Geralt's activated ability should be "destroy target creature of the choosen type" and i agree that he should be .

Totally badass. I love the Witcher and these are sweet. I do agree with the others however. Geralt's protection feels white and the destroy ability feels black, so it would be better if you switched it to

Thanks for the feedback. I had thrown around Geralt's colors for awhile, trying to find what sticks. was considered, and now that people seem to agree with that assessment over I suppose I'll change it.

The Signs suggestion is also very cool. They probably wouldn't be more than 1 or 2 drops, mainly because of how simple the techniques to work them are. I'll get to work on those later on. I've also got an Eredin idea in the works, thinking he should be . Thoughts?

I haven't played the 3rd one, but I want to so bad. I did play the second, but I don't remember if Eredin was in it. What are the characteristics?

Eredin was only alluded to in 2. He's the leader of the Wild Hunt. So, basically the main bad guy in 3 (even though I still haven't fought him yet. Still finishing up "Final Preparations")

Ah. Well would be appropriate. Or maybe a mix of , like or ? Idk. I probably should play the Witcher 3 before making suggestions.

Do you have Magic Set Editor?

Edit: I love it. I can change the cards anytime without creating a whole new card.

I have MSE, but I made these in mtgcardsmith for quickness of the links. Wouldn't know where to upload the converted images outta MSE anyway.

I made both of them in MSE originally then just basically copied over what I had there to mtgcardsmith. Eredin's in there too.

I know for a fact Eredin will be , but I might add either , , or both the final card. Since the Wild Hunt are basically harbingers of the White Frost and use a lot of cold magics, blue would be more likely.

Well, I use Imgur to upload the link. However, there is an export function on MSE to where you can create it as an html.
