Here are some designs that I conceived recently, when I was deliberating ideas for new cards.

Sylvia Silverleaf, Defender of the Forest Show

This card is one that I created because I believe that there should be more cards with abilities that trigger when a player gains life, so that gaining life is not considered to be useless.

Sylvia Silverleaf, Sylvan Protector Show

This card is a creature version of Privileged Position whose ability is not always active but provides greater protection when it is.

What does everyone think of these two cards? Are they well-designed?

I like both actually, the first one is simple, yet effective and is a decent commander or a fine legendary in a standard set, especially in limited.

The second one a bit more obnoxious - the payoff is great, but I think too great. It should read "other permanents" to make it a bit less frustrating. It has the feeling of a chibi Sigarda, Host of Herons.

Boza, should I increase the threshold for the second Sylvia's ability, or would that not matter?

cool cards, the first one seems like a total shut-out in a limited game, esp. vs a black deck.
for that reason it might be too OP. I think either reducing power to 2 and/or removing pro-black could help balance a little. but regardless they look fun to play.

Grind, they do not need to have protection from black; I put it on the cards because she is a green/white creature, both of which are enemies of black, but, if it would make her too powerful, I can remove it.

Would someone join me in my admiration for the combination of the name "silvia silverleaf" and the creature type combination of dryad and druid? Someone seems irritatingly innovative in adjusting alliterating words where it is strangely satisfying.

Card seems great btw, whereas i prefer the first one. Maybe give it hexproof from black for fitting into the latest design constraints? This would also make it a little less powerful while not making it too weak.
