Some things to keep in mind about Eldraine before seeing this card:

  • It's a set based on European fairy tales and folklore
  • It has support for Knight tribal
  • Said Knight tribal support is equipment-focused
  • The Lady of the Lake has a card of her own

...And yet somehow neither the sword said Lady of the Lake gave to Arthur or, more famously, the one he pulled out of Merlin's stone, managed to find their way into the set.

Wizards what is ya doin' boys?

Maybe make it so it comes in with a stone counter and you remove it by tapping a creature and you can't equip it without removing the counter

It has to actually be standard playable and the only equipment I could think of that saw standard play were the Scars of Mirrodin swords. It's weaker, but the hope is that it's still playable.

I'm going have to disagree with you here TypicalTimmy. I don't feel like the Sword provides too much power for 5 CMC.

If it was an aura it would be weak. And the restriction is enough to limit its power.

Falcoshin mentions he mirrored the template on the Sword of X and Y and it is also a colored equipment, further reducing where and how you can use it.

To be honest I would rather see it lose a few of the Evergreen Keywords (White has a tendency to hoard those already) and instead provide some ability that is reminiscent of the value of the Sword; they will become the rightful heir to the throne/kingdom.

It would be very easy to just tack on a Monarch trigger when you "remove the stone counter" - given you want to change that reflection.

However I don't feel like it grants much of a nobility status/feel.
