Survival Suit

Artifact - Gear

Whenever donned planeswalker would be dealt damage, prevent all but 1 of that damage.

Don (: attach to target planeswalker you control. Don only as a sorcery.)

Though I would make a Future Sight-esque card with a mechanic I feel could be in the game, but isn't yet. Honestly the first line of text is just there as a base idea. It is a very open design space which I like.

Attaching cards to planeswalkers is decent design space that is not explored for an obvious reason - it does nothing in Limited and most constructed formats. I understand this is the planeswalker take on equip or fortification, but these are the rarest permanents in the game.

Planeswalkers being so rare makes these cards incredibly difficult to design. You have to make them powerful enough to see play, while not overpowered when actually in play, which feels like an impossible task.

What if when it wasn't attached to a Planeswalker you got the effects. Also, I would make these colored, either in the don cost or in the mana cost.

Funkydiscogod for a long time walkers where mythic only and only recently have we gotten rare and uncommon ones so I'm sure we could see a common one with enough time. Also them being non legendary doesn't make sense as they are extremely rare beings it's not like its just some Grizzly Bear or Storm Crow

No, Planeswalkers weren't always legendary. They were once even more rare, to the point that their subtype was an entire legendary segment by themselves and you could not control two Planeswalkers of the same subtype (as they would be the same character). No legendary rule beforehand had that same restriction, although there were some pretty harsh restriction when considering the old legendary rules, pre Kamigawa.

I hope we'll never see common Planeswalkers, as Planeswalkers in general are oddities within the Multiverse. As such I think it would be faulty to have such characters appear as "common". How can a specific character be a "common sight" on a plane unless it was a clone? I really hope Simic doesn't start cloning Planeswalkers and that it "works". The War of the Spark set was an experiment in trying uncommon Planeswalkers and I think it did alright, but was also stretching how many Planeswalkers is acceptable to see within a limited environment. The set was also very creature-light and resorted to the Amass mechanic (generate zombie horde) to generate creatures, and that as a big fat horde that was easier to chump block and safe-guard your Planeswalkers from. There were many low powered creatures in the set and not that much evasion, to better allow the Planeswalkers time to matter.

As for the card, I'll reiterate what Boza said; Planeswalkers are rare enough that Equipment specifically for Planeswalkers, seems difficult to design for limited and constructed.

What Iehovah suggests, could be a possibility. A duality purpose between you (the player and Planeswalker) and the summoned Planeswalker on the field. However I feel like that design space is extremely narrow. It could be a Future Sight-esque thing and just tease a few possibilities, but again the design space seems small.

I am hearing some good points. I did not consider the rarity factor. I guess I missed my chance for gear by not suggesting this during War of the Spark spoilers.
