I like the card Traproot Kami from Betrayers of Kamigawa, so I decided to create my own variation of it, as seen, below:

Solar Creeper Show

I kept the design very brief and simple, making it so that the creature's controller can choose when to make it more powerful, rather than relyin upon the condition of the battlefield to increase its power and toughness. The idea of this card is that it begins as a tiny plant that grows larger as it absorbs more sunlight, so it grows upward, toward the sun that nurtures it, represented by its controller paying mana to increase it's power and toughness.

What does everyone else think about this? How interesting of a design is this card?

Really no reason to include twobrid mana. Just having an activation cost of GG is probably fine.

i think the cost is better as mono white as opposed to mono green (sunlight being the reason for growth according to the name)

First, the card should be green and white.

Second, the card is really bad. 2 mana for a 1/1 with Defender? That's absurdly bad. Sure, I know you can make it grow, but who would seriously use mana to make a Defender better? Not me.

Defenders are generally really bad, so be sure to give it some kind of upside.

gets +1/+1 for each plains you control? this way it could be a two mana 5/5.

zephramtripp, I chose to use twobrid mana because this card is from a set that I am designing, in which cooperation between colors is a strong theme. The idea of the twobrid mana is that the plant prefers green mana, but anay color of mana will help it grow.

aholder7, what if I had the activation cost be two green/white hybird mana?

The_Raven, what if I added an ability that stated "as long as solar creeper has ten or more +1/+1 counters on it, it may attack as if it did not have defender?" Would that make it more interesting?

DemonDragonJ: i think a green card with white activation costs would show that teamwork is required to make this work. i think the plains idea would be better though if you wanted this to be a good card. if this is meant more as a common or such then the counters idea works better.

aholder7, this card is definitely intended to be a common, and I also wish to avoid having it rely on the board state to become more powerful, since that would make it too similar to traproot kami.

Here is my new version of it:

What do you think of this version of it?

I think it should cap at 5 counters. then it can attack within 3 turns.

if you are trying to encourage cooperation make the cost to put counters on it only white. by making it G/W you are making it easier for colors to work by themselves.
