Custom Cards forum

So, just for fun, I'd like to create guild cards that would really reward you for playing the guild. They're based on both the guild charms and Cryptic Command, because I love having choices. Ideally, they would:

  1. Represent the spirit of the guild
  2. Offer versatility because it's cool and improves the overall playability of the card
  3. Be instant speed (! adapt the power level !)
  4. The mana cost must be 2 mana of each of the guild's color

Azorius's Command

Choose one :

  1. Counter target spell. You gain life equal to its converted mana cost.
  2. Draw 2 cards, then each player draws a card.
  3. Return up to 3 target nonlands permanents to their owner's hands.
  4. Tap or untap up to 2 target creatures.

Selesnya's Command

Choose one :

  1. Creatures you control gain lifelink and indestructible until end of turn.
  2. Put a 4/4 green and white Giant token with reach onto the battlefield.
  3. You gain 4 life for each creature you control.
  4. Target creature you control gains +4/+4 and trample until end of turn.

Gruul's Command

Choose one :

  1. Target creature you control gains first strike and fights another target creature you don't control.
  2. Destroy target artifact or enchantment target opponent controls. Gruul's Command deals 3 damage to that player.
  3. Gruul's Command deals 8 damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures.
  4. Put two 3/4 green and red Beast creature tokens with haste onto the battlefield.

Rakdos's Command

Choose one :

  1. Target player sacrifices 2 creatures and loses 3 life.
  2. Each creature your opponents control gets -3/-3. Whenever a creature dies this turn, Rakdos's Command deals 2 damage to it's controller.
  3. Return target creature from your graveyard to the battlefield. It gains haste and "sacrifice this creature at the beginning of your next end step".
  4. Target creature gains first strike and deathtouch until end of turn.

Dimir's Command

Choose one :

  1. Counter target spell. Its controller loses life equal to it's converted mana cost.
  2. Target player discards 2 cards and you draw a card.
  3. Choose target instant or sorcery card in a graveyard. You may cast that card without paying it's mana cost this turn.
  4. Target opponent puts the top fifteen cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.

Simic's Command

Choose one :

  1. Put a 3/3 blue and green Mutant creature token with flying and trample onto the battlefield.
  2. Distribute four +1/+1 among creatures you control.
  3. Draw 2 cards, then you may put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield.
  4. Counter target spell. Create and X/X green Ooze creature token, where X is that spell's converted mana cost.

Boros's Command

Choose one :

  1. Boros's Command deals 3 damage to each creature. Whenever a creature dies this turn, you gain 2 life.
  2. Put two 3/2 red and white Knight creature tokens with first strike and haste onto the battlefield.
  3. Boros's Command deals 5 damage to any target and you gain 5 life.
  4. Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you this turn. If damage is prevented this way, Boros's Command deals that much damage to any target.

Golgari's Command

Choose one :

  1. Creatures you control gain trample and deathtouch until end of turn.
  2. Put an X/X black and green Ooze creature token with trample onto the battlefield, where X is the number or creatures in all graveyards.
  3. Return up to two cards from your graveyard to your hand.
  4. You gain life equal to the number of instant and sorcery spells in all graveyards.

Izzet's Command

Choose one :

  1. Draw two cards, then Izzet's Command deals damage to target creature equal to the number of cards you have in hand.
  2. Put a blue and red 4/3 Drake creature token with flying and "Whenever this creature deals damage to an opponent, draw a card".
  3. Copy target instant or sorcery spell twice. You may new targets for the copies.
  4. Izzet's Command deals damage equal to the number of cards in that player's hand to that player.

Orzhov's Command

Choose one :

  1. Destroy target creature. You gain life equal to it's converted mana cost.
  2. Return target noncreature permanent from your graveryard to the battlefield.
  3. Target creature you control gains flying, lifelink, first strike and indestructible.
  4. Put three 1/1 black and white Cleric creature tokens with lifelink and deathtouch onto the battlefield.

Looking forward to reading your feedback and seeing your iterations!

Peace

NB : No, I didn't forget the 'until end of turn' for the 3rd Orzhov's Command choice, I designed it this way :)

Haven't looked at the other ones yet, but Azorious command shouldn't be able to bounce three of your lands for only four mana. Probably should make it nonland?

Good remark, adapted. Thanks!

I think you should change it to choose two instead of choose one. Thats what the commands traditionally do as compared to the charms, which only allows you to choose one.

dbpunk I debated that but giving 2 choices among 3 options for 4 mana seems kinda OP.

Also, to allow 2 choices I feel like you need 4 options to make it interesting, so their power levels should be lowered and that makes the idea less appealing.

I think the dmg on option 1 on the Izzet command might be om the high end, given how easy UR can fil the hand with cards. Otherwise I think you've balanced the commands pretty Good

WizardOfTheNorthernCoast, these are great ideas, but commands always allow a player to choose two out of four options; choosing only one out of three is a charm, which the guilds already have.

On the subject of charms, there have not been any charms since the Tarkir block, so I hope to see them, again, at some point.

Ok since you guys suggested a 4th option to match the Command aspect, I added them :)
