So my friends and I are coming up with our own plainswalkers for kitchen table games. The walkers are all supposed to cost around five and start off with three or four loyalty. I've come up with a summoner of Eldrazi Spawn for mine and I'm wondering how balanced it is.

5 CMC - Not sure what color, may be colorless

+1 Put a Eldrazi Spawn Token onto the battlefield.

-2 or -3 Target player sacrifices a creature, put a number of Eldrazi Spawn Tokens onto the battlefield equal to the creature's toughness.

-7 All players sacrifice all colored permanents. For each permanent sacrificed in this way put a Eldrazi Spawn Token onto the battlefield.

The way it is now does not seem too balanced. The ultimate alone is overpowered. Perhaps something like:4cmc - colorlessEldrazi Broodmother

3 Loyalty Counters

+1 Put an 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn token onto the battlefield.

-3 Target creature under your control gains annihilator 2 until end of turn.

-7 You gain an emblem with "Whenever a permanent is sacrificed, put X 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn Tokens onto the battlefield under your control. Where X is equal to the permanent's cost. If x is equal to 0, put 1 Eldrazi Spawn onto the battlefield under your control.

or:

+1 Put an 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn token onto the battlefield.

-3 Target permanent is sacrificed, Put a number of eldrazi spawn tokens onto the battlefield equal to half of the CMC of target. If cmc is equal to 0, put 1 Eldrazi Spawn onto the battlefield under your control.

-7 You gain an emblem with: "eldrazi spawn gain annihilator 1".

The loyalty counters need to be low enough so that the minus ability make the planeswalker weak enough to be easy to get off the board. The ultimate has the ability to be scary and yet somewhat understandable if you are able to get the planeswalker to that point.

Thats my takes on it. Let me know your thoughts and hope you like mine!

You realize, just writing "Eldrazi Spawn token" doesn't mean that token has the ability to sac for 1 mana? You need to write that with each ability, unless the intention was for the token to lack the mana ability.

The minus should probably read "Target players sacs a creature...that player puts a number..." etc. to be balanced.

The ultimate could just be All is Dust, no reason to have the Spawn kicker.

It would have to be colorless. I agree there would need to be some annihilator in there somewhere to make it true Eldrazi. And remember the eldrazi spawns are 0/1s with Sac to add 1 mana of any color, so they are pretty valuable. I think the ultimate should be "You get an emblem with; Eldrazi Spawn creatures you control have +2/+2 and Annihilator 2.

Actually do that as an until end of turn for a -3 and that would be cool. Then do All Is Dust as an ultimate. That would be fairly balance and still awesome.

alright on second thought maybe annihilator 1 instead of 2 so your not straight winning the game with -3

@DarkHero The cool thing about the Annihilator mechanic is that attacking alone triggers the mechanic so making eldrazi spawns 2/3s with annihilator 1 would still be crazy for a -3 even if it is just until the end of the turn.

Imagine if someone had 5 spawn tokens out or more, then was able to use the -3 you are suggesting. It could be a blowout as well.

maybe instead of focusing on making the spawns crazier in attacking, it might be better to focus on their sacrificing ability. maybe an emblem that makes eldrazi spawn sac for 3?

Or

-3 Until end of turn eldrazi spawn tokens sac for 2 colorless instead of 1.

true. just felt like Eldrazi need some kind of annihilator. maybe a -0 turn into an indestructible eldrazi creature with Annihilator 2 and p/t equal to loyalty counters until end of turn?

Fairly balanced. As mentioned ultimate should just be All Is Dust . No need for tokens really it'll be enough to win. Just needs rewording.
