Contagious Zombie.

Creature - Zombie

Whenever ~ deals combat damage to another creature, that creature becomes a copy of Contagious Zombie.

[1/4]

I like this idea because it infects (most likely) one of your opponent's creatures, which then infects yours, until the whole battlefield is zombies and someone has to use a boardwipe to reset the game. The reason the CMC and toughness is so high is that A: we don't want this creature to be over-used (turning every game into floods of zombies), and B: damage carries over into the copy, so if you buff this guy he basically gets deathtouch, which is not the point of this card.

I think you have way overcosted this card - Permeating Mass is a 1/3 with the same ability, and only costs . All told, it's a fun, but not particularly powerful, ability.

I'm not entirely sold on Black having such a transformation effect, but I think the argument is there. I might make change this creature's P/T to 2/2, so it matches the traditional zombie token. Then make it cost (That's the same cost as Walking Corpse , and this is, effectively, a vanilla zombie with a slight upside--same cost, but at rare seems perfectly legitimate). If you wanted it to be a bit harder to cast, you could probably go as high as , but I don't think you need to push much beyond that.

I'm also not sure where you got the idea that damage carried over to the copy--damage marked on a creature is not a copiable value.

I'm not saying the damage is copied, I'm saying that when this creature deals damage to another, the damaged creature gets the P/T of the original, but still has the damage it was dealt on it.

Ah, I misread that - clearly having a brain fart moment!

That would make the 2/2 suggestion not work so well. You could have this be done as a replacement effect preventing the damage and creating a delayed trigger turning the creature into a zombie at the end of combat. That would prevent any shenanigans, while still ensuring your opponent has time to respond, as they would if this used the Permeating Mass language.

recomendation for the zombie, an idea for an alternate way of going about it.

Permeating Zomble

BB

Provoke, (or) This creature must be blocked if able.

when this creature deals damage to a creature, that creature becomes a copy of permeating zomble

1/2

Why would a zombie damaging other creatures, turn them into the same zombie?

Instead it could be; "Whenever ~ deals combat damage to a creature, it becomes a Zombie in addition to its other types."

... if the idea is to utilize the presence of zombies on the board, Shepherd of Rot -style. I think that design is more interesting to explore and design around than basically have all creatures turn into Dune Beetles .

Only control would love an entire board filled with useless vanilla creatures, that don't really deal damage and makes combat stale.
