worth buying the precon 5 pack?

I'm excited about the new cards coming out in the 2016 set and there are a lot of them that I will use in other decks, but $130 is a fair amount of money for me. On the other hand buying them all together gets you a pretty steep discount, but I would be ending up with a lot of cards I don't need. I've been told that unlike intro packs commander pre-cons are actually well made and the cards do generally have value. Its also nice to jsut try out new decks and for having 2 decks that are reletively evenly matched for teaching a new player or playing with a friend using the pre-cons. So is it a good value to buy the 5 pack?

Oh yeah, I'm buying 5. I collect commanders though, and each has atleasrlt 1 new relevant card. The commander precons are definitely powered nicely. Look at it this way, my most powerful edh deck is designed to lock down and control 3 combo players at once. But is not designed to face good stuff "allele grounds coveed" type decks like the precons, so I'll hand someone a precons and let them woop on my $2000 dollar deck and it's tons of fun for them

Unless you just want to collect each individual deck, you're better off buying the singles that interest you.

Value wise, it's usually worth about what it sales for, I pulled the trigger on eBay at 125, cause I was debating it. But then again I will keep them all, and edit them.

Mass Drop had it (maybe still does?) for 120 (but shipping made it about 130). Anyways, I think it's great, gives you tons of great options to mix around the decks, as well as lots of great value

I think it depends on your situation:
What is your total budget?
What have you already spent?
What is your current meta like?
What do you already have for EDH decks?

In my case, my roles changed with after-school clubs, I already have about 15 EDH decks (many which are straightforward enough to teach with), and I already invested a lot in a box of Kaledesh.

For me, getting boxes and full sets of everything isn't in my budget but focusing on one purchase/format like that each year is. I started off focusing on EDH, then Modern, and now recently Standard - all because of the other people around me and what they have and play.

I play a lot of duel commander so while while some of the new cards in this set seem fascinating, most of them wouldn't get played effectively by me the way things currently stand.

So for new EDH players, collectors, or for people who frequently play big multiplayer games, I think buying all 5 would be worth it (but that's not me right now).

However, I did make a Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest energy (chi?) EDH.
