Why can't I use Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary as a commander?

I was looking through the official page for Commander, and I noticed that we aren't supposed to use Rofellos as a commander. Any ideas as to why? I am sure there is a good reason, but he would make a great commander.

That's the reason. He and Braids, Cabal Minion have abilities that are too good to be available at any time (especially because they cost so little). That's why you can have them in your deck, but not as your general.

Yup. Rofllols is just /stupid/ on turn three - six mana up, already. And Braids is just too good considering you can make plenty of tokens or crap, or you can speed her out a turn early and really put people in a bind.

Kokusho should be allowed in decks... :P

As stated above, he's just considered to be overpowered. So much so that people generally don't have fun playing against him. However, one fun thing about EDH is that nothing is set in stone. I've seen plenty of decklists for Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary , because people can make whatever house rules they want. Ask around your playgroup, if they're ok with you playing Rofellos, then there's nothing wrong with it.

I'd disagree with sporkife about Kokusho, the Evening Star , however. Black is the primary color for both sacing and graveyard recursion, and in EDH games where you easily have 10+ mana available, or even 20 plus with Magus of the Coffers , Cabal Coffers , or Black Market , you could easily sac and recur Kokusho three or even four times in one turn, meaning you drain 15 points of life from every opponent and soak it all up yourself. Even in EDH, that's simply broken.

But whatever, this thread isn't about Kokusho, so I won't put up any more of a fight. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that's just fine.

yeah yeah, I know, he's busted. I personally wouldn't do that sort of thing (I'd just use him for forcing opponents into awkward situations) but there are lots of people who would do just that.
