Tribes That Need Some Love

Gobs, Elves, Merfolk, Dragons, Vampires...bah!! There are some small, unappreciated Tribes out there that are fun to play (Please dear lord not Wizards...). I wanna see Werewolves, Hags, Horrors, and Dwarves! What are your favourite underappreciated Tribes? Do you put 'Sarpadian Empires Vol X' in a deck :) ? Decks I'd love to see: Unicorns. Hags. Avatar tribal!

While we have a decent amount of cat tribal cards, they don't have any lords. I'd like to see some creatures that give all of my other cats +1/+1, and maybe some kind of ability like first strike. It would be cool if we got a legendary cat in the Naya colors.

I've always had it in Mind that I wanted to make a gorgon deck that "works". News flash: it doesn't really. You're forced to add in some snakes and the occasional odd caryatid and it's still a fairly weak (if fun) deck. I would love to see a couple lords thrown in to hold the tribe together. Maybe some abilities in a similar vien as the terrible but flavorful Hythonia the Cruel. Hythonia isn't a "true" gorgon lord because it doesn't buff other gorgons, but instead leaves them alone when it goes monstrous. It works with the flavor that gorgons don't really band together all that often, but they also don't hunt their own kind. For instance you could have a gorgon creature that says something like "all non-gorgon creatures get -1/-1" or "when _ enters the battlefield, destroy a non-gorgon creature" instead of the normal lord abilities like +1/+1. Something fun to think about.

But yeah, gorgons.

Mercenaries and Rebels were pretty interesting. If they weren't such weak creatures you could make a really good deck out of it.

Allies, Centaurs, Eldrazi, Germs, Gorgons, Horrors, Illusions, Kithkin, Minotaurs, Monks, Myr, Pirates, Satyrs, Shapeshifters, Sphinx, Spiders, and Thrulls would all be cool tribal decks if we had commanders to lead them...

for Pirates there are errataed old commanders whose type was changed a long time ago to make them that. Same with shapeshifters, kith kin, sphinxes and eldrazis. Like it wouldn't make any tribal help, but they'd give the deck another facet.

Ape, Devil, Djinn, Golem, Minion, Nightmare, Mutant, Wurm. I'd love to see some support for these tribes. Also, from the ones mentioned above, I like Horrors, Sphinx, and Thrulls.

For a myr commander I think a new version of Memnarch would be needed. I'm thinking he'd have a casting cost similar to the Reaper King. Memnarch, Master of the Five Suns? Not sure what he'd do power wise, aside from pumping up all of your myr.

I threw together a new version of Memnarch using phyrexian mana, but I can't get the picture to post. The new version is supposed to be a resurrected Memnarch leading New Phyrexia.

Memnarch, Father of Machines

Casting Cost: One of the five Phyrexian Mana colors

Type: Legendary Artifact Wizard

Rules Text: All myr creatures you control have infect. Tap and spend five mana, put a 1/1 colorless myr creature token onto the battlefield.

4/5

This feels like a really broken commander, in that you can cast him for 8-10 life on turn one. The myr aren't too much of a threat by themselves, but giving them all infect seems really evil. Should I maybe take out the phyrexian mana casting cost and instead use it to create myr? That would give him the five mana color identity, allowing you to play all the myr cards.

I'm really hoping they do something with dragons (probaly in DRAGONS of tarkir). I've started to think that it'd be worth it to try and put some in a Jund EDH. Aside from the obvious Karthus Dragon Broodmother goes great with Utvara Hellkite and/or Scourge of Valkas. As for an underappreciated one I'd say Minotaurs. They're like knights in that they're good enough to fake being good, but for standard instead of modern.

Also, Cybersix, knights have Knight Exemplar which is kinda awesome :p definitely one of the best lords printed. And with Haakon, Stromgald Scourge (although you gotta do some fanagling to get him out) they're near impossible to get rid of. And Kinsbaile Cavalier gives double strike...that's a nice suite of abilities at their disposal.

Check out my gorgon based edh deck. I figured they would benefit fro being in edh since they are kinda high on the mana cost scale.

Insect tribal. I have an insect tribal deck Xira Arien, Insect Queen EDH. However, insects suffer from being highly random and all over the place in implementation; most sets don't have more than 2 or 3 insects, and they tend to be weak, cheap common creatures. There is a token theme with insects somewhat but nothing that really, reliably, brutally pumps them out, like a legendary version of Ant Queen or Dragonlair Spider (which isn't technically an insect).
