There are a ton of EDH goodies headed our way! Now that the full set is spoiled, what are your top three favorites and why? Competitive or casual, doesn't matter, but give us a short reason why! Cheers!

I'm a green mage at heart, and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove tickles me silly. I can see this being staple for sure. It'll go in at least 4-6 of my decks!

I have a soft spot for elementals and Tectonic Giant makes me smile. Red does lack some card advantage, and this can help fill that gap in the most red way possible. I see it going in the wife's Aurelia, the Warleader deck and my Omnath, Locus of the Roil deck. Smacking a defending player for 12 dmg with Aurelia out sounds fun.

Next up... it's green... it's an elemental... and I see it going into A LOT of people's lists... it's Nyxbloom Ancient !!! Absolutely bonkers and a little unnecessary; this opens up a lot of combos and wincons. What was WotC thinking?!

That last one you probably saw coming ;)

What are your favorites?

Setessan Champion is perfect for my enchantress tuvasa deck. Also Dryad of the Ilysian Grove will be trying to find it's way into most decks. But I think the coolest card Thryx, the Sudden Storm but I am a big fan of demons so I'm excited for all the new demons.

Thassa's Oracle because I can't wait for even more cedh tears over Paradox Engine ban and I am glad it is banned and now the Flash + Protean Hulk got even more busted.

Erebos's Intervention I wanted this card just for the first line in a life gain deck I built but with a flexible option of also exiling cards from graveyard if you are up against a graveyard deck yea love the flexibility

Haktos the Unscarred just because there are some funny dumb strategies you can do with him

Dryad of the Ilysian Grove has to be one of my top as well. You've got an extra land per turn source, plus he acts as a Prismatic Omen to boot. I can see him being put in most any deck involving green.

Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath has to be another one of my tops. Especially for how well Uro fits with Muldrotha, the Gravetide who is one of my favorite commanders. A recurable source of draw, extra lands, and lifegain is super solid.

My last pick is a tie between Woe Strider and Gravebreaker Lamia . The stride is a Viscera Seer who brings their own fodder along with a way to bring itself back through escape. Meanwhile, the Lamia is an Entomb with a body and reduces the cost of gravecasting.

Overall I'm hype for this set.

Thassa's Oracle because it single-handedly might force the EDH rules committee to make an EDH ban based on how horribly it impacts cEDH for the first time. I wish I was joking.

I actually really like Destiny Spinner . It has great stats for its cost, strong stax for creature heavy and/or enchantment builds with a decent active to boot.

Heliod, Sun-Crowned opened up a decent mono-white 2-card infinite damage combo with Walking Ballista . With him as the commander, you just need to find ballista to win. Not the best of course, but a fun addition.

There are exactly three cards with the possibility of going into multiple decks of mine:

  1. Heliod's Intervention
  2. Underworld Breach
  3. Nyx Lotus

Only one person has mentioned EITHER of the titans, and that’s shocking to me! They both look incredible, and I am excited to play with both! Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath and Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger . I’m mostly excited for Pioneer decks but I would love either as a commander!

The Hungry, Hungry Titan: Kroxa EDH

Commander / EDH* Daedalus19876

SCORE: 3 | 46 VIEWS | IN 1 FOLDER

Take a wild guess what I'm excited about ;) I can't resist giant, splashy mythic commanders with bizarre designs!

For me, gotta be:

1: Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger . Interesting and brutally designed interpretation of Kronos! Seems a fun deck to build. (But maybe not so much fun for the opponents)

2: Dreamshaper Shaman . This kind of effect is so much fun, and I love seeing more of it!

3: Polukranos, Unchained . The flavor of this card is brilliant, and his original card has sentimental value to me as well, so I gotta pick his new one up.

Tough narrowing it down to 3! I really wanted to include Nadir Kraken .

My Omnath the 3rd deck I'm excited to add Nyxbloom Ancient and Thryx the Sudden Storm. Nylea Keen Eyed I want for my Marwyn Elf Queen deck. Honorable mentions to Thassa Deep Dwelling and Renata.

Ashiok's Erasure can easily stop an opposing commander. Inevitable End is just great, Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded can quickly cheat things in, and Ashiok, Nightmare Muse is interesting.

If I get these then they are definitely going into my Nicol Bolas deck.

For me, usually I am pleasantly surprised by political & redsplash cards as far as impact/reputation/$$ obligation

  1. Allure of the Unknown - R/B continues to produce splashy bombs that do not give a F_$%k what the rest of the set is doing. Also, this card offers as much depth as the deck that contains it. Should be an affordable foil that swings above its $$ value.

  2. Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger - Low cost ETB, neat combat trigger if he sticks, something to use a stocked graveyard on, yet he doesn't need to be in a reanimator shell. & I will be using him with Endless Whispers to punish EVERYONE!!

  3. Klothys, God of Destiny - Low CMC, graveyard hate, dmg & lifegain accumulation

I haven't dissected each card yet, but on the first look these 3 are what I see becoming a staple or a fun commander to build a deck with:

As most of you also noticed, Dryad of the Ilysian Grove is a possible staple for decks with green. It's a similar version of Oracle of Mul Daya but instead of possibly playing a land card from the revealed top card of the deck to a Prismatic Omen effect. I would definitely add this to my Willowmaker, Doran the Siege Tower deck, since it has toughness greater than it's power plus the effects mentioned above.

So far I haven't seen this card being hyped for EDH as much as I would suspect, but Treacherous Blessing is a great card draw spell! 3 mana for draw three?! That's a great deal! You can target the enchantment with an ability, so you don't even lose a life.. It's typical to Painful Truths but without using a 3-color commander to draw 3 cards.

enter image description here

Storm's Wrath is straight-up a mass removal for red! You can compare it to Wrath of God , Damnation or Day of Judgment but using the characteristics of red in the color pie plus it deals with planeswalkers too! No more other conditions to consider, like Blasphemous Act or Chain Reaction for them to wipe the board. Granted 4 damage isn't that big of a deal with EDH creatures, but it's still a great mid game mass removal or against token decks..

enter image description here

Honorable Mention: Heliod, Sun-Crowned - it's the best possible mono-white commander in my opinion, even though it will be obvious that the deck will definitely have the game ending Heliod, Sun-Crowned + Walking Ballista or Heliod, Sun-Crowned + Triskelion combo. But it's still a step to improve white as a color in EDH, especially mono-white..
