Tooth and Nail NEEDS to be on this list. Seedborn Muse too.

I agree on Tooth and Nail , Survival of the Fittest wants to be on this list too.

All the previous comments are on target. Seedborn Muse is just so game-breaking...

I disdainfully disagree with Cultivate . That card is just soooooo underwhelming. I'd rather have Yavimaya Elder 100% of the time, and I don't even think he deserves a spot on the list.

Also, no card:Praetor's Counsel?

i made these threads to promote debate and serve as a starting point for someone looking for ideas

Tooth and Nail is very good, is it better than order tho? 2GG vs 7GG is significant.. although perhaps i should concede to tooths flexibility

@zandi calling the list fail because it didnt have a card you like doesnt really help anyone

@hereticsmitty i agree with you that yavimaya elder is a very good card, but i say Cultivate /card:Kodama's Reach are the epitome of acceleration/card advantage. if you were to turn 3 an elder your turn 4 would have 4 lands, 2 available, if i turn 3 a cultivate, my turn 4 has 5 lands open and that can be enough to win for a lot of decks

@maiden77 im curious if your experience with defense was single or multiplayer, playing with or against. i have seen that card do a whole lot of nothing ever time i play against it, but could use another perspective

7GG for an entwined Tooth and Nail is very achievable in an EDH game. In playtesting of my BUG deck, deck:dominus-3, I usually cast it two or three times, sometimes multiple times per turn (fetching Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger , Eternal Witness , Snapcaster Mage , etc.) It's an obscenely powerful card in a format where it can fetch some of the most powerful fatties ever printed.

stryder says... #11

yeah my ghave deck runs both so i dont know.. maybe top 10 was too small a number...

December 19, 2011 2:43 p.m.

It seems that way. EDH is such an expansive format with so many approaches that by limiting yourself to 10 choices you're doing all the available cards an injustice. A top 25 would probably have been better, since each card has different applications. If you were looking at the top 10 tutors or ramp cards you could get away with it because it's easier to comparatively order cards which have the same applications.

But Chord of Calling is good. That's the thing.

And I was being facetious.

I think Natural Order , Mana Reflection , and Doubling Season should be on the list if we're just talking about mono-green decks. If we're just stating Top 10 for any deck list, hardworlder has a pretty good list. Only one I'd change up is card:Praetor's Counsel. I haven't played much 1v1, but the multiplayer games I usually play in won't let me cast card:Praetor's Counsel and then I become target #1.

December 21, 2011 8:02 p.m.

That's because card:Praetor's Counsel makes you a threat. It's good. It's just a matter of whether, comparatively speaking, it's good enough to be on the top 10 list.

Every time I've ever seen anyone stick a card:Praetor's Counsel (including myself), the entire table can't even hope to keep up. The card advantage is extreme.

If you're like me, and you like to ramp up lands, consider running Liege of the TangleMTG Card: Liege of the Tangle. He's a total game changer.

I agree with Genesis WaveMTG Card: Genesis Wave. Though it may not be one of the top 10 Green EDH cards ever printed in the history of Magic, it is a massive surprise late-game from ramp decks like Azusa, Lost but SeekingMTG Card: Azusa, Lost but Seeking and Omnath, Locus of ManaMTG Card: Omnath, Locus of Mana.

I dont know about the rest of you, yet most people i have known to pull off a Genesis WaveMTG Card: Genesis Wave go on to win the game with great ease...

And from there i should think that Genesis wave should Easily make the top 10 in Green EDH.

January 30, 2012 6:20 p.m.

The thing with Genesis WaveMTG Card: Genesis Wave is that it's kind of iffy. You need a lot of mana to make it worth it, and then you aren't guaranteed to get something game-changing. Cards like Tooth and NailMTG Card: Tooth and Nail are stable investments of mana because they always guarantee good hits. I don't dispute it being good, but I doubt it's a top 10 card.

Food Chain is also missing. I think top 10 is fine, if we're able to give cards the same ranking, multiple cards in first, second, or third place. It's impossible IMO to say, x is the absolute best in this color, then x is just about as good. But it's still a good debate to rank them, but you will never just have 10.
