Thoughts on "alternate" Commanders?

I'm just curious as to everyone's thoughts on here about using "alternate" Commanders.
- Alternate Commander being any non-legendary creature, or any Planeswalker who does not say they can be used as your Commander.
For example, using Shaman of the Great Hunt or Ral Zarek?
Not specifically just those two; I'm only using them as examples. Obviously some are horrendously over powered, but the vast majority of them really aren't.

I do dearly wish a few cards had been printed as legends, Priest of Forgotten Gods for example. If your group is ok with it do it. Don't expect random people to be alright with it though or if they are and you win expect them to complain...

Council of the Absolute would be cool as a commander. You could also name Persistent Petitioners and build a sweet mill deck

It would make me unnaturally happy if I could put Crypt Ghast in the command zone.

There would have to be soooooooo many bans. Council would be target player cant play thier commmander and youd have that in the command zone

I think Havengul Lich would be a pretty good and fun commander.

Underrealm Lich may have been a good commander if it was a legendary.

griffstick there is Taigam, Sidisi's Hand, but then you'd have to use blue instead of green.
Also... I kinda feel annoyed by the idea of them cause part of the challenge of EDH and commander is having this restriction on commanders and building your deck with that in mind, but otherwise itd be cool to think of how many cool broken or downright janky decks you could build.

dbpunk I know about Taigam, Sidisi's Hand it's really cool but it's the green that I really wanted. If Taigam, Sidisi's Hand was to cast I'd be all in on it. I'd even have a solid deck built but I think that Taigam, Sidisi's Hand not having green in it makes it more difficult to build.

You have Pauper that uses Uncommon creatures as Commanders, Peasant uses Rares as commander, I'm sure somebody somewhere has made a variant that you can use any mythic/rare w/restriction on the 99.
