Commander (EDH) forum

Hey EDH Players! I'm Looking on building an EDH that's themed around a Punk theme! I want a commander that screams anarchy! However, I can't figure out who should be my commander? Suggestions! Preferably a three color commander?

Sedris, the Traitor King is a bit too metal but he might work.

Well, there's Rakdos, Lord of Riots. Sedris, the Traitor King might fit. Tariel, Reckoner of Souls sorta fits the theme and I like the art.

Awesome ideas! Sedris, the Traitor King is metal, but he works! When I thought about G/B/R commanders to be punk, my first thought was Thraximundar. But Sedris works too, plus I love reanimator!

Rakdos, Lord of Riots does show punk in many ways, he works well. I would run him if I didn't help my friend build his Rakdos EDH.

I would agree Tariel, Reckoner of Souls would somewhat work , and her art is cool! I would want to keep her in mind.

These are awesome suggestions! Any other ideas of Punk Commanders

My suggestions for punk AND playable:

My vote goes for Marchesa, because "The Black Rose" is as punk a name as it gets!

Man, you guys forgot all about Kresh the Bloodbraided... Not the From the Vault garbage, but this one.

I vote Kresh here, or Marchesa. It kinda comes down to which type of punk you wanna represent there.

I think it depends on which type of punk your looking at though, cause like I feel like Glen Danzig would probably play Kresh the Bloodbraided while Marchesa, the Black Rose would probably be played by Henry Rollins or Keith Morris. Also, SkullBriar is kinda punk. In a Leftover Crack kind of way.

KillDatBUG, I said playable, and Kresh is not in my opinion because either you want a commander to finish a game off with commander damage or you are using them for some other purpose. With him, the only thing he does is buff himself up, and because he literally has no removal evasion on himself at all, relying on him to deal commander damage is just silly. Sure dealing lethal with him can happen, but there's nothing on him to stop an opponent from just Murdering him, so playing him might as well become a game of "Will I draw cards to protect him this game?", which isn't too fun for anyone to play.

This is just the way I see it, but I imagine that some players can be stubborn about certain ideas/strategies, and it's everyone's right to believe anything they want.

Kresh is cool, and I built him before. However, I took it apart to build Ghave, Guru of Spores, which is now a Earthcraft Combo Edh.

Marchesa is also an awesome choice, however someone else in my group plays her. And I don't to be part of what I call the "Oloro Effect," where multiple people use one similar commander, Oloro, Ageless Ascetic is a huge example and is the reason why I hate him so much. Having multiple people use the same commander in the same play group loses uniqness and is just extremely annoying. I wish I could build Marchesa, but she is already taken.

Skullbriar, the Walking Grave is an overpowered commander ever since they nerfed tucking effects so if Skullbriar is bounced or tucked, you can return him back to the command zone so he keeps his counters. Yet, I don't see him as much as a punk, it is kind-of a Leftover Crack way, but the punk I'm looking at is kind of a mix of either Pop Punk like Green Day, Offspring, Blink 182, etc. and Hardcore Punk like Rise Against.

I would say that Radha, Heir to Keld is pretty punkish
