When this set was coming out I got really excited about a lot of the cards in it. Then i realized there were a ton of good cards in the set, almost too many.

I know that power creep has been an issue throughout Magic's history but I feel like this set has an exceptional number of powerful new cards.

Do you guys agree with me on this? or do you think that there is no real basis for these claims. I think this would also be a good place to talk about some of the sweet new cards this set is bringing for commander.

cards that are going into my decks: cordial vampire for Edgar Markov , Yawgmoth, Thran Physician for Shattergang Brothers , and tectonic reformation in Lord Windgrace to name a few

Agree, has some super powerful cards, Tectonic Reformation will also go straight into my Chandra and Tariel deck. Basically as you're running red, this is pretty much a staple imo, you can just ditch these annoying lands whenever you want. Also great costed for just .

War of the Spark was at least as impactful to EDH as Modern Horizons will be in my opinion, maybe more so honestly. The power level is higher in MH than with the average standard set but it's certainly not over powered compared to whats in most EDH decks. WAR had dozens of cards I had to get for my various EDH decks but MH only has a couple I want (apart from the rare lands). Also the sets Mythics are most of the value cards so I definitely will not be opening a box like I did for WAR. I'm saving my money for the next Commander product later in the summer.

One thing's for sure, a lot of these cards are going to help increase consistency in many many MANY many EDH decks.

There is a lot of powerful cards in the set. Either by themselves or in conjunction with other cards. A lot of cards would never had appeared in a standard set due to power. Others wouldn't of made it due to the fact that they are dead in the current story. And then some wouldn't of made it due to keywords coming from sets that from planes that were not as popular. Then we got a few with few mixed keywords.

Over all I think the set will effect casual edh the most. The rest of the impact would be in the following order: modern, cEDH, legacy, and vintage. - I dont know enough about pauper to say what impact it will have, and we are currently missing a bunch of commons that will be revealed today.

But the purpose of the set was to have a place for cards that were too powerful for standard, and would have a impact on lower tier decks in modern. Except for the few cards that benefit humans, I think they implemented their goal.

I do like the fact that each mythic is playable, just wish there wasnt so many low value rares. But glad we get a snow covered full art in each pack, as that will soften the blow some.

There are a lot of good cards in Modern Horizons, but that's not a problem, nor is it what powercreep really is. Powercreep defines the concept of cards becoming more powerful over time. A set that has a lot of cards that are on par with the present power level of the game isn't powercreep. It's when they're stronger than the present power level that you're looking at powercreep.

That said, there are a couple of cards in MH1 that seem to fit the bill, but not a lot. Imo, I'd list Urza, Yawgmoth, and The First Sliver as the most stand-out cards to be concerned about. But even then, can I really say that The First Sliver is stronger than the 5c Sliver legends that came before? It's not stronger than Queen, that's for sure.

WAR brings Narset and Karn which warped every format in existence. MH1 is far subdued compared to WAR in my opinion. Also, in conjunction with the new London mulligan, I can see the powercreep happening.
