OK I'll Say It First...Starfield of Nyx...

Commander (EDH) forum

Starfield of Nyx has just been spoiled. It is wonky. If you control 5 or more enchantments, each enchantment you control is a creature with p/t equal to its cmc. Gods, opalescence, enchanted evening, conspiracy all my permanents are goblins/vampires/kithkin/elementals...? There will be some weird interactions. Everyone at the table going, ok how do 'layers' work again?

This is obviously not the same as the others. He's asking how the layers work using this card.

How does this relate to commander?

Do you have any generals in mind that will use this?

Let's talk about the commander aspect of this card

My first instinct is Zedruu enchantment shenanigans. Get back all your destroyed ones, turn them into a late game wincon, good stuff.

I'm also half-brewing, half-just-thinking-about making an enchantment control Heliod build, and card seems like a really good recursion engine.

This actually looks pretty sexy alongside Opalescence as either backup to bring the beats on or just generally being good recursion in tandem with something like Sterling Grove. Also, let's not forget lol Humility.

I currently play a Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer commander deck that intends to eventually use Enduring Ideal. This card is beautiful to run with Opalescence.

Hanna, Ship's Navigator is the first one I think of. She already uses shenanigans that. This card is just a second Opalescence for consistency.

lolmg didn't think of Enduring Ideal with this... :)

Enchanted Evening shenanigans are going to happen everywhere even though you blow up your lands.

that's what my enduring ideal is for, Enchanted Evening + Opalescence. then ideally the board state is stable enough that mine is best. starfield of nyx makes this even better. in not caring about mana cost, starfield is just better.

True. I'd love to see a list. Dictate of Heliod only gets dumber too as a 7/7.

I don't run any anthems right now, but I'm strongly considering it for keeping my lands alive, but then it's getting too cute and slow. link because you asked. not exactly what I have but very close.

If you're running a U/W commander, Hive Mind+Enduring Ideal in your enchantment centered deck seems like the most cruel way to force someone to pick up their cards. Unless they're running an exorbitant amount of enchantments too.

that is phenomenal. I now need to get a Hive Mind.

Just make sure you can end the game before the homer playin Assemble the Legion gets going. Then it's not so good. Not that I saw it happen or anything...

Zedruu + Starfield + Enchanted Evening = free Armageddons.

Cybersix, that's evil.

I'm gonna play Starfield in my enchantment-themed Phelddagrif with Sterling Grove. I've got one concern though: wraths are ubiquitous in EDH and even though my deck's a tad low on win cons, I'm afraid it'll be more trouble than it's worth, giving a bunch of un-interactive, continuous effects legs. But it may just be a risk I'm willing to run, literally.
