Next new deck?

Hello! I'm absolutely addicted to creating and playing new decks whenever I can, but I feel like they are always run the same line of objectives. I need something different. Right now I have a Syr Konrad, the Grim deck based on mill, a Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger focused on a 12-rack strategy, making people go hellbent and want to punch me, a The Scorpion God deck based on -1/-1 counters & controlling the board, a Grenzo, Dungeon Warden deck on value and destruction/edicts, a Torbran, Thane of Red Fell burn chaos deck and a Neheb, the Worthy Minotaur Tribal. If you're paying attention, they all have one thing in common. Either they are mono red, mono black, or Rakdos. Well, I have a few decks that break this pattern: I own an Ayula, a Feather and a Rafiq deck, but I didn't build and brew them. I still love them very much, but they're adopted.

I am completely in favor of Jank, humor and silliness in general. Back when I started playing Magic, I brewed a modern deck themed around the number 7: seven letter names, seven p/t total, number seven somewhere in its text. Later it evolved to the number 13 because of Triskaidekaphobia, and lastly I merged them into a Baron Von Count deck that got dismantled because people hated dying on turn 5 constantly.

That is another problem I have a lot: getting targeted every game because my decks are frustrating to play against. So possibly a deck that doesn't provoke rage would be nice.

What would you beautiful people recommend me next? I have been looking into a goblin tribal (possibly Wort, Boggart Auntie), Queen Marchesa, and Kresh the Bloodbraided, but that's just Rakdos with extra steps.

I do not want any Superfriends type of deck, or decks that do everything all the time. No control stuff either.

Maybe try building a blue deck? Like if youre going for jank, theres nothing jankier than mono blue aggro.

I'm not sure actually. I think Rakdos is supposed to invoke rage by nature. You either do horrible things to people, or you're super aggro. Either way, that makes you a target.

My favorite mono Red deck is Purphoros, God of the Forge but I am primarily an Orzhov player which makes me want to push you into Mardu.

Of course in Mardu, Kaalia of the Vast is a lot of fun imo, and Edgar Markov is just so good.

Goblin Tribal works with Purphoros, or you can go token spawners with less Tribal but still some key pieces like Krenko, Mob Boss. Kaalia plays Angel/Demon/Dragon Tribal which I really enjoy because I have an excuse to play cards I would never otherwise run in most decks. Edgar plays Vampire Tribal. All a lot of fun.

Her Royal Fluffness

Hear me out. This is a full-on Timmy deck: You slam down fatties and play very fair Magic. Thing is: Your threads are mostly exchangeable and you can easily adjust the power level by simply switching fatties. It's aggressive, but can play great defense. It's very resilient and once you have the mana up, you can escalate in no time.

What I love most about the deck is that I tend to joke about how my colossal monsters just wanna cuddle and hug. This is big time fun.

What do you say?

From experience: Try building a deck in your colors that does something your colors are absolutely not supposed to do.

For example, I love esper, but esper's de-facto playstyle is control -> I win combo. So I built a battlecruiser deck around Sharuum the Hegemon that only wins the game through combat. Obviously, being in esper, there's some cards you just can't get away from, but this gives the deck more of a "homey" feel (doing what you've come to love about the color combo), while still pursuing a very "alien" strategy.

Something like Olivia Voldaren control (typically more of U/W's thing), or Chainer, Nightmare Adept reanimator (while reanimator IS black, playing big creature decks is typically a G thing). You could also try Mogis, God of Slaughter stax, although that deck in particular is VERY likely to get you targetted, because it plays on a very high power level.

Edit on my last: missed the whole “no control” thing. Maybe not voldaren then...

My suggestion for true Jank is an “open wide” theme. Build an Alesha, Who Smiles at Death deck using only cards where the art depicts a character who is yelling

I highly recommend a group hug deck, with a focus on fun positive interactions with other players. Green/Blue has most of the great group hug effects with symmetric draw/ramp.

Then there is the question, how to win? I reccomend playing other people's cards with stuff like Bribery or Annex, which largely reflects the tables style. Add a few politics friendly mechanics like monarch and spells to buff other's creatures with and you can have a blast.

When selecting cards think 'will this make everyone's game more fun': it'll make the game exciting for everyone and really help the politicking.
