ok guys. I like to keep EDH entertaining so what i want u guys to do is post a random general and a random deck hub to build a deck off of with the new commander, this way i can keep the game interesting and have something different everytime.Thank You for helping :)

So I pulled up a list of all the legendary creatures and then went to random.org and had it generate a number between 1 and 548 (the number of legenday creatures on the list). It gave Arcum Dagsson I don't think this is a very "fun" general as he quickly turns into prison control. Although pairing him with a horrible strategy for commander like mill would make him more fun to play against.

The second RNG gave Borborygmos Enraged .

There are tons of generals that don't see enough play even though they are amazing.

What colors do you like?

Pick a weird commander and then run with it. Something like Skeleton Ship or Shauku, Endbringer for flavour, or even something like Fumiko the Lowblood to keep games interesting.

Next month I'm hosting a "Battle of the Gods" EDH tournies, where basically you pick on of the Gods of Theros, and build a deck around them. Point system that talleys up at the end of the month.

While Marchessa, the Black Rose isn't an interesting commander, the deck I built with her in it took a different approach. 90% of the creatures have to have an "When this creature attacks" or "when this creature deals damage" trigger. It makes deck building more interesting while giving love to creatures that normally wouldn't have it.

Arcum Dagsson, token producing artifacts and polymorph effects.

July 23, 2014 7:25 p.m.

Gidgetimer says... #11

You are going to have to do some planning on how to not have it turn into prison control featuring all of the most busted artifacts in the game (Arcum Dagsson and Myr Turbine are busted together) I seriously think that you should try to mill your opponents out as a win con.

Do you prefer mono-colored, bi-colored, tri-colored, or penta-colored commanders?

July 23, 2014 7:59 p.m.

vissanna says... #13

MagicalHacker bi color tri color are my preference i love to make 5 color decks but the only commander i like tht is 5 color is cromat

July 23, 2014 8:26 p.m.

MagicalHacker says... #14

Cromat is neat, I wish he could be reprinted so he could get a fancy new art and frame.

Any color(s) you like or dislike?

July 23, 2014 9:17 p.m.

vissanna says... #15

MagicalHacker i try to stay away from blue

July 23, 2014 9:35 p.m.

vissanna says... #16

and cromat is a favorite buit i already have 3 decks of him

July 23, 2014 9:35 p.m.

MagicalHacker says... #17

As a side note, I only have one EDH deck built in paper, and it's this Cromat deck, so take a look if you want: Colorful Personalities. It's nothing strong or even consistent or even finished (still about 25% of the cards are proxied), but it's fun, and most opponents have fun playing against it too.

ANYWAYS, here is an almost lengthy list of all the commanders that are multicolored, not blue, not control, not over-used (to the best of my knowledge), and are commanders that I think are neat:

Do you think any of those are cool? Let me know what you think.

MagicalHacker - Of the legendaries you've listed, some are considered to be pretty powerful. In particular Teysa, Orzhov Scion , Captain Sisay , Sigarda, Host of Herons , and Doran, the Siege Tower . The rest are very doable and can be very fun.

If you want my opinion, try Sapling of Colfenor treefolk tribal. Graham Stark of LoadingReadyRun, who does the Friday Nights videos for Wizards, has that exact deck and it's quite flavorful.

You're right. I thought I weeded out what was over-done, but I haven't seen those at any of the shops that I play, so I realize now that they are probably over done at a lot of other places. (Even though I go to like four shops every week, Derevi, Lazav, Aurelia, Marchesa, Nekusar, and Damia account for 65% of what I see.)

I personally like Sapling of Colfenor voltron. It's pretty easy to cast, and the indestructible is usually a problem for a lot of players, not to mention by adding hexproof you make it nigh unremovable. (Worldslayer combo is exciting!)

Another "sleeper" commander is Karametra, God of Harvests . Like, I don't know why everyone isn't taking advantage of the fact that she turns Memnite s into a free Windswept Heath effect without paying life. Why hasn't anyone broken her yet!?

One other commander that I have literally NEVER seen yet is Gahiji, Honored One . While he is in the perfect color combination for tokens, he gives a +2 buff, but he doesn't stop there. He's like the Edric, Spymaster of Trest for tokens. Totally awesome.

Gidgetimer says... #20

Karametra, God of Harvests is closer to playing a free Grasslands since you can't use the mana same turn, but I do not fault you for trying to make her better, she is pretty beast.

JWiley129 says... #21

I've seen a Gahiji deck, and it can be good/bad. Be careful about what you put in; e.g. Furnace of Rath , Aggravated Assault , etc.

lol yes!!! i will do tht after i remake my colfenor deck

katarhero says... #26

One interesting/fun idea is to use an overused commander in a deck that doesn't surround them. I use Marchesa, the Black Rose in a Grixis i'm-a-douche deck. It's extremely fun, and is more about making yourself a target than winning. It makes everyone team up against you, making it a fun deck to play against.

July 26, 2014 12:08 p.m.

katarhero says... #27

Plus making decks that usually use another general but substituting for another is fun to build. Most people think Ghave, Guru of Spores is the Necra general for a token deck. So I made a Karador, Ghost Chieftain token deck to go against the grain. It was a fun build, and gave me more ideas.

Honestly Ganji looks pretty lame. He is even lamer than krenko and I like goblins.

IMO tokens are really lame to play with and against because they aren't real cards. Ganji deck would just include token generators and not much else. Atleast in a krenko deck you can bunch of stuff the gives synergy between goblins.

Only place I would like to see ganji is in a conspiracy draft.

I've had this idea for Vorel of the Hull Clade Super Friends deck. All you have to do is turn the planeswalker into an artifact with Liquimetal Coating, Memnarch, Argent Mutation, or Mycosynth Lattice and then double the counters. Throw in a bunch of proliferate stuff and Doubling Season. Works even better with the new Teferi out.

For a challenge I built an all creatures Ruric Thar, the Unbowed, a creatureless Narset, Enlightened Master and another creatureless Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge deck.

Honestly, if you want to just sit there and mess with your opponents: play Mishra, Artificer Prodigy. Keep promising your opponent's there is an actual reason to play him and build a win condition while they sit there in fear and confusion.

Hello. The community would appreciate it if users didn't post in threads that haven't been updated in a long period of time. This thread hadn't been posted in for 6 months before you contributed. The reason for this is that often the discussion is finished and people don't want the thread to be pushed back to the top - it allows new threads a chance for discussion,
