Land Abuse: Bobo? Temur?

Commander (EDH) forum

I want to build an EDH deck that focuses on using lands for more than just mana. My first thought was Borborygmos Enraged, but I'm hardly a Gruul player. I love green, but if I play red, it's always a minor color. I then thought of adding blue and using Maelstrom Wanderer and Riku of Two Reflections. However, I'm stuck beyond the initial concept.

What can I do with lands? I figure I'll be running lots of ramp and mana acceleration, but what do I accelerate into? A three color, and even two color EDH deck isn't great for Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, but Scapeshift isn't bad. Stasis? I want to avoid going infinite as well. Is there anything worth doing with this?

My personal favorite is Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite with Mycosynth Lattice and March of the Machines. It's a derpy combo but still funny.

Why not just play a five colour lands deck that uses Maze's End as the primary win condition and Door to Nothingness/Progenitus as secondary win conditions?

That's definitely a funny combo ThisIsBullshit, but what else would white give me that relates to lands? :(

I'm not big on cards that just say "you win." Of course, it's just like winning through damage when you have to assemble all ten gates before that clause goes off, but eh, I'm not sure. Just doesn't seem like what I want to do. Good suggestion though :)

This article might be informative: "Take Control of your mana" on GatheringMagic. Landfall is a mechanic that lets you use lands for more than just mana, and Karametra, God of Harvests might be a fitting commander, and this deck has a lot of landfall interactions:
The Token Fatty | Karametra EDH

Other commanders: Titania, Protector of Argoth has some land interaction, and Kamahl, Fist of Krosa can attack with your lands, or make opponents lands into creatures when somebody cast a wrath.

Thank you Indigoindigo! I'll go check out that article. You gave me some ideas as well; turning my opponents lands into creatures to make them easy to blow up. It may not be a solid competitive deck, but it sounds like fun. I'm more conflicted about the colors now though :(

I think it can be quite competitive, like this list. You can also play him in an elf-build, throw out 100 elves and make them huge with Kamahls second ability.

Ob Nixilis, the Fallen would be a staple in that 5 Color Maze's End deck I think.

Here's a list of cards that like Basic Land types...if Domain interests you.

Meloku the Clouded Mirror is a really good option for the temur decks

So green is an obvious include, but I've gotten bored with every mono-colored EDH deck I've tried. I'm almost thinking Abzan right now, but Jund is another option. And there's still Temur... Ahh too many choices. I think I'm set on a 3-colored build, but I'm still conflicted as to which clan to use. Can anyone help me reason through which clan?

Green is a must.

White has Knight of the Reliquary.

Red has From the Ashes and Borborygmos Enraged.

Blue has card draw, which is very important.

I don't see how black is an option here. I'd say your best bet is either Temur or Jeskai.

I was just playing around some builds, and white didn't give me a ton. Neither did black. I'm working on something with Kruphix at the helm, so we'll see how that goes.

Just use borby to vomit lands at someone, cast Life from the Loam, and do it again.
