Is Karametra Good Commander for a Lands Deck?

Hello!

I recently traded in a bunch of cards to my LGS, and am trying to put together a good 75% deck. I love lands, and was wondering if Karametra, God of the Harvest is any good? She seems interesting, and I love the feel of Selesnya in general, and was curious. I know there are some stronger ones in Lord Windgrace and The Gitrog Monster , but I don't want to be instantly focused. Thoughts?

Go fer Omnath, Locus of Rage ! ! ! (Assuming you want to focus on lands)

Karametra, God of Harvests is cool tho. The wife ran her for a minute when we first got into EDH with friends. I'd say she's more of a support commander that helps you dig for lands as you play creatures from the 99

@TypicalTimmy suggested some good ones. Avacyn, Angel of Hope is another top end beater in that same theme. Depends on budget.

If casting creatures get you lands... then play creatures that toolbox! Lotus Cobra , Beast Whisperer , Reclamation Sage , Thalia, Heretic Cathar , etc. Duplicant is one of my pet cards. Temur Sabertooth for the winmore

Have fun!

I've never seen Karametra built that way but no reason it wouldn't work well. Green is the main lands matter color and white has some nice support cards. You should definitely check the edhrec page for suggestions as that will be the majority of the cards you'll want to get.

Lands matter and landfall more specifically are not necessarily things that win games. It will certainly rack up value but you still need something to take out life totals or choose another way to win. Taking a quick look at the page above tokens jumps out as a thing. Emeria Angel , Rampaging Baloths , Retreat to Emeria , and Avenger of Zendikar are all great at making tokens and love lands. Selesnya in general also just likes the whole token thing and has the best support for it. There is even stuff like God-Eternal Oketra which has the same trigger as Karametra though a different result.

@TypicalTimmy: Soulsister/Landfall seems like an interesting deck idea!

@greyninja: Sadly I've played both of the new omnaths and not found much success with either. My list isn't good persay, but I just felt like my commander was always the priority target. With a god Commander that becomes less of an issue. I love the Avacynn tech, I might need to trade in some fetches to get her!

@DrukenReaps That sounds like a fun way to incorporate the soul sister element TypicalTimmy was talking about! Token land fall! Maybe a good old Trostani in there will do nicely!

Karametra is great for landfall, combo, enchantments, stax, or really whatever. I have a primer thats a bit more competitive, but you can see useful cards there for getting karametra triggers ( Whitemane Lion / Kor Skyfisher with creature discounts like Oketra's Monument ). Here is a link to the primer [Primer] Karametra's Bounce House. See the 'on a budget?' section for some swaps to get you closer to 75%. I also have links to other karametra decks at the end if you'd like to check them out.

Karametra is ok, but she's kind of a catch 22 commander. If you're taking advantage of landfall effects then you want your ramp to be land fetching so you can get her out as soon as possible, but you get no value from playing these spells once she's down. And if you're using mana dorks then you will typically empty your hand of creatures to ramp into her and so then don't have creatures to trigger her ability. Especially since white/green is not known for abundant draw.

You could build her as a half elf ball, half landfall list though. Use the elves to get her out quickly and then run a couple of big impact effects.

My suggestion you won't see anywhere else is GET WHITE-BORDERED BASICS. It will make your life and your playgroup's lives when you don't need to spend 2 min. finding the last two lands in your deck.

But, yes, I think Karametra is a good choice for a 75% deck. I just took apart Tatyova, Benthic Druid deck, since it was hard to feel like it was tuned without being too powerful, even being a Druid tribal deck.
