Interactions w/ Varina, lich queen

Anyone know specifically how the interaction between Varina, Lich Queen and Archmage Ascension would play out... would it replace all instances of draw w/ search but then still force a discard? I'm not 100% sure wanna make sure so I don't make any illegal actions while playing

Commenting just to follow. I'm curious about this interaction too. Though i think the ascension takes forever to turn on and be effective

For Archmage Ascension you would search your library for X cards then discard X cards. Archmage Ascension only cares about the fact you're drawing cards and switches those out, but it won't switch out cards you discard.
For Illusionist's Bracers you're copying the effect, not the activation cost. So it would be 2 cards exiled and 2 zombies.

I'm not 100% on the ascension interaction but I think because it says "then discard" that you will still have to discard.
The bracers copy everything after the : in the ability. Everything before the : is part of the cost to activate and the bracers are not making you pay for it twice.

New card interaction, Alhammarret's Archive. Since the archive has a replacement effect changing the total you draw from X to 2X does that in turn also change the value for X in the discard part of Varina, Lich Queen?

So I play this deck, and I totally forgot about Archmage Ascension that's going in, as long as it says 'instead' you would draw double the number of attacking zombies, but only discard for the number of attacking zombies. For instance, I swing 2 zombies -> Draw 4 cards -> discard 2 cards. The X is the number of attacking zombos not the number of cards drawn.

Also curious on her interaction with Illusionist's Bracers. Would you remove 4 then get 2 zombies or remove 2 and get 2 zombie tokens?
