Ink-Treader Ideas

Currently, I have a deck built using Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis. However, I need another deck, and as I'm on a Ink-Treader roll, I went with a Partner combination.

I eventually settled on Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker and Tana, the Bloodsower, but EDHrec is showing a tokens/superfriends deck. I also noticed enchantress voltron and flicker.

Any more ideas? I need something that isn't group hug.

I'm confused. You say you have a Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis deck right now, and I'm guessing it's a group hug deck? Link to the first deck?

By Ink-Treader, do you just mean the color combination, or do you actually have and build around Ink-Treader Nephilim?

And now you're trying to build a second deck with the same color combination? Or are you trying to switch from the deck from Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis to Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker and Tana, the Bloodsower?

Does that all sound about right?

hubatish: Two separate decks, and I meant the color combination.

Link to Kings deck. Note that it's a tad outdated, and will update it shortly.

Why do you want to make another deck with the same colors? Especially as a 4 color deck is gonna stretch your mana base thin, and you'll have to play a decent number of cards just to fix your mana. That's gonna make the decks seem more similar.

Why not play a 2 color deck? I think that will feel substantially different, as you won't have to spend very much effort on mana fixing. Constraints on deck building breed creativity! If you like partner generals, you could use two enemy color partners, like Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist and his creation Kraum, Ludevic's Opus.

Sorry for questioning the basic concept!

There's lots of cool things to do in the color combo too (maybe build around Ink-Treader Nephilim for instance? It helps that Zada, Hedron Grinder is good back-up, and I've tried to build a couple decks with Zada: Zada Package.

Another storm/combo deck I saw early is with Jeskai Ascendancy:What We Fought For: Meletis Ascendancy Combo.

Both Ishai and Tana want to beat face too, so group pain, beatsticks, or voltron could all work well too. 4/5 colors of magic! So many options!

hubatish: The plan was to retain (and make minor changes) to the mana base to accomodate the other deck. That way, it's less expensive, though more cumbersome.

For the record, I already have a 2-color deck in Wort, Boggart Auntie, but I'm struggling to figure out what my playstyle is, but after playtesting the Kings, I could be on the right track.

It's ok.

My concern with the Ascendancy deck is that it's too consistent, nor do I like the idea of centering a deck around a card in the 99. Also, I'm not sure if you realize it, but Ink-Treader Nephilim is now illegal to use because we actually have 4-color options now. Just wanted to make sure we're on the same page.

That was why I made this post; I was overwhelmed with options, and I needed someone to sell me an idea that may grab my interest.

You could try Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder with Thrasios, Triton Hero. Bruse could get aggressive and thrasios could give you card draw to make sure you don't run out of gas.

chirz2792: I already chose the Partner pair: Tana, the Bloodsower and Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker.

You could run a bunch of effects that move +1/+1 counters from creature to creature and then use Ishai to voltron up Tana.
