is it 10 infect to kill someone in EDH still. People at my game store say 15. i think they're just salty that blightsteel and whispersilk are bosses.

I don't believe there is a set limit for edh, but IMO I always cut the max life total in half no matter the format.

The poison limits are the same for EDH as they are for a standard game. The official rules don't specify a different limit, so the standard rule applies. I read somewhere that the r&d people tested it and decided that the limit didn't need to be raised.

I personally think that's way too low, so my group uses a house rule of 20 poison to kill, or 11 from a single general. I killed someone with a single Flesh-Eater ImpMTG Card: Flesh-Eater Imp last weekend on turn 5 or 6 just because he couldn't block my one flier.

I personally think it should be raised though, I used to use my green/blue infect deck and won in 1 hit since I powered up my SpinebiterMTG Card: Spinebiter with 2 Titanic GrowthMTG Card: Titanic Growths = instant win.

Most EDH games I've seen will implement some house rule to determine the number of poison counters a player can take on before losing. Since EDH by nature is designed to be a social, casual, and fun way to play MTG, most people who play an infect EDH deck are willing to up the poison count total to keep the game more balanced and enjoyable.

I personally have no hate for people who play infect EDH. It's a perfectly valid game mechanic and if that's what one wants to play, cool by me. But if the goal of one's deck is to win everytime, as quick as possible, then that player is kinda missing the point and spirit of EDH.

It's really no worse than the ProgenitusMTG Card: Progenitus combo I've seen some people play in EDH. Get him out turn 2 or 3 with a Dream HallsMTG Card: Dream Halls, then plop out a Rafiq of the ManyMTG Card: Rafiq of the Many, swing for a kill.

But, more to the point, in EDH the poison counters needed to kill an opponent is till 10, by the rules. But a lot of people do house rule it.

I'll say, if you're playing an infect aggro strategy in EDH, it's actually pretty tough to win with it. I played an infect deck for quite awhile. I have much more fun playing my Three Beautiful Sisters deck.

Someone once tried to kill me on turn 2 with a Immolating SouleaterMTG Card: Immolating Souleater with PhyresisMTG Card: Phyresis on it. The only thing that saved me was the dismember I had in my opening hand. The look on his face when he realized he just put himself at 2 life for nothing was amazing.
