So I play my Dragonlord Kolaghan deck in Duel/French/1v1 Commander however yesterday (Saturday November 5th, 2016) I was told that it wasn't good at all for playing Duel/French/1v1 commander and so can I get some ideas I'd like maybe to stick with Dragons as I'm most familiar with them, but I also know about playing with Karametra God Of Harvests.

What are you asking for?

Dragons are big and beastly. you need trample and haste to really make them great. And you need to play some sort of in order to drop them sooner than later. and if you can copy them instantly with haste even better. But overall the tribal dragon deck isn't the most competitive. But it is a lot of fun to play.

It sounds more like you are interested in deck help? In that case you posted in the wrong forum. Additionally what are you asking for? What is not good about the deck? What are you running in it? What is the audience you are playing in (casual/competitive)? There are so many questions and the only answer that kind of exists is that you are in

If you are playing 1v1 I'm guessing you are trying to be competitive, since french commander tends to be so. 1v1, though i have not played much of it and never seriously built my EDH decks in that manner, allows you to be much more agressive. 1 opponent, only 30 life. think of it more like modern than 4 player edh. The following commanders are good all arround, but kick ass 1v1, Brago, King Eternal, Leovold, Emissary of Trest, Zur the Enchanter, Animar, Soul of Elements if you are looking for really top tier guys

fadelightningmm the Mana Curve is too high from what I was told by the guy who taught my fiance and I how to play a year ago. I'm mostly running Dragons with Dragonlord Kolaghan as my Commander. I do a bit of both Casual and competitive, my Dragon Deck seems ok in casual, but I'm always now ending up in the bottom when I'm playing the French one; 8 out of 8 last time I played my deck.

I run 25 creatures including a Planeswalker (Chandra, Torch Of Defiance) that I pulled from Kaladesh. My largest CMC being 6 that are 7 drops; 41 lands, and the rest are made up of artifacts, spells, instants, and sorceries.

also as far as I know the life is no longer 30 in French or whatever that it is now 20 life

like I said, if you think of it more like modern, how many 7 drops see real play in modern without some way to cheat them out as a win condition? 3 drops and less are the name of the game

You should use a low cmc commander. Most decks will win before turn 6 unless you have a hell lot of removal... Especially with 20 life points the meta shifts towards aggro.

From the looks of the deck (I'm assuming Hawk Red/Black Dragon Deck from your page) the curve is pretty back loaded. You probably want more mana rocks as well cards that will make your stuff cheaper Ruby Medallion Jet Medallion and Dragonspeaker Shaman. Maybe even a Sneak Attack (I feel like this one could potentially be banned in French edh though)

If you build it for duel you should use a lot of removal, hand disruption plus dark ritual to get your commander in the early game. Also toxic deluge and pyroclasm may help you against decks like kytheon aggro or zurgo

AwesomeOctopus unfortunately I've never played Modern so I don't know anything about it I've only played Commander and Limited

fadelightningmm I will look into those cards as yes indeed that's the deck I'm referring to; far as I've seen in banned/restricted Sneak Attack isn't banned; I updated my list since I removed a card and added Chandra in its place.

AlexoBn I have addded those as well to my list of cards to get.

One of my biggest threats in French Commander is Braids the one that you have to sacrifice a land; in casual I'd say relentless rats

You should ask your friend for some more help, if he's the one who pointed out the issue then maybe he can help you fix it. He can also probably help you build your deck more to a playstyle that works for you considering he knows you better than some strangers on the internet.

Livingham he has been helping, but I got 9 excellent choices to add to my deck from this site; that is why I'm asking for help on here as well. I've only been playing a little over a year now even though I was 12 when Magic came out; however I can get help online any day of the week, however it's not true with my friend.

I mean asking on here is great I was just saying that your friend will have the most viable suggestions of all, I'm not sure why he didn't sit down with you and help you in the first place when he pointed out the flaws with your deck.

LivinghamYeah I can understand that; he did the first time, but then we had to play our duels (it was FNM draft night) then we didn't really have time saturday we were busy with multiple casual games
