How much hate does Sen Triplets get?

I'm looking to build my first 3 color commander deck to accompany my 2 and 1 color commander decks. (I know how silly that statement is or would of six years ago lol) I'm looking to build something quiet and unassuming in Esper I guess...Political pillow fort? (I tried Oloro I don't really like it.) but I want to play Esper and I don't want to be hated out.

It depends. If you're playing with your playgroup and you aren't a Spike, you'll be fine. If you are playing outside your playgroup, or have shown your playgroup that you are into winning, you'll deal with hate. But you're in Esper colors, so you should be able to deal with it

It really depends. I find it that most average playergroups place a lot of emphasis on what general your playing. Stuff like 'Derevi? Oh man, are you a dickhead.' gets thrown around. When you move up, it becomes more about the 99 and your general attitude.

When I built Sen Triplets, it was pretty much just a pile of the cool esper cards I owned and my playgroup knew it. They just let me have fun.

Your playgroup will adapt to your deck based on how you build it and how you play it. Don't be "that guy" and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Too much. She's good, so suddenly everyone gets mad that you picked her? Rude.

It bugs me man. Like I just want to build a "Leave me alone please." deck in Esper colors and when I was playing Oloro it was like...OMG LOOK AT THIS LIFEGAIN HIT WITH ALL OUR COMMANDERS! These guys got really annoyed with him.

Ehhh... Sen Triplets isn't even good at very competitive levels. I mean, sure, you get to deny other people from casting stuff and you can even steal cards from their hands. Still, that requires setting up and is only as good as the cards you can cast. It's a heck of a lot easier just to combo off with Sydri, Galvanic Genius. Hell, you could just cast Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir and be done with it. Just make sure your 99 cards are good and voila!

The Sen Triplets ability just doesn't feel very good when it gets pointed at you. Then again, Esper commanders very rarely do that anyways. Have you seen Zur the Enchanter or Merieke Ri Berit? Fucking please.

I feel the whining about commanders is pretty much childish to a huge degree. There's always going to be that one guys in your playgroup (I'm that guy) that likes to win and plays accordingly. They quickly learn to live under the hate of their group. Hell, I'm lucky if I get to untap on turn 5 in most games. Then again, I combo off very quickly if I'm not hated on all the time.

In reality, you can't play to be left alone. That's just not going to happen. Ever. You're either going to be so well off that people will need to react to you or you'll be so far behind that anyone can just point a 5/5 your way a few turns in a row and kill you.

For me, I can't really play without being hated on, no matter who my commander is. If I do anything other than durdle, (even just ramping a bit), I immediately become the threat, even if the board isn't in my favor. That's actually why I picked Sen Triplets, so that I could play control and deal with the hate.

I'm in the same boat. I can make pretty much whatever and still get killed fast. I feel like flat out control is a little weak without combos. It's really hard to lock down the board in any meaningful fashion for longer than a few turns. That is, other than mana-denial through stuff like Derevi and Stasis or something.

I'm fortunate enough to have a playgroup that doesn't embrace combo. That doesn't mean we have bad decks (most are pretty expensive), but I don't have to worry about losing out of nowhere.

I see. Hm. I'm going to build it but I'm going to build it Esper fun stuff then.

I say one of the more hated 3 color commanders, based on color identity, would have to be Political Tasigur, the Golden Fang. No one in our play group likes it when someone uses him because those kind of decks don't let you do anything.

A commander that doesn't get hated on a lot has to be Angus Mackenzie. In a meta without combos, he's really strong. You get a way to fog attackers every turn. Toss out a Prophet of Kruphix and you have fun times. Not a lot of people play him, I guess. Bant players might just default to Derevi, Empyrial Tactician. It might be his old art and ridiculous price though...

Her decks tend to be oppressive, as many esper generals are. With people that dont know your deck, she'll draw the hate to you, barring something like an Animar deck, which pretty much has the top spot for hate-drawing with rather good reason a lot of the time.

Moral of the story: People dont like being locked down and having their cards taken :P

None of this is necessarily my opinion, its mainly my observation so put the flamethrowers down Esper players :P

Haha it's okay. Ya know I came from a very spiky background there was a guy in my first commander experience was some guy dumping 800 dollars into am Omnath EDH and his deck became so oppressive that my first completed EDH deck was a mono black F creatures stax deck. Well after a bit Omnath guy left because everyone had built these big dumb control decks. Now I'm the guy getting kicked in the shins lol

Yeah in my experience you want to carefully toe the line between "interesting to play against" and "So oppressive that everyone hates you out of every game ever"... then again I play Pheldagriff and whenever anyone pisses me off I end the game with Divine Intervention, so I'm a unique kind of evil

Its one of the most fun decks ever. You just use a few pillow fort cards and cards that make you everyone's friend, then when someone decides to eb a dick and target you, you play Intervention, pillowfort for two turns, and end the game right there.

You get a hug! You get a hug! EVERYONE GETS A HUG! Playtest
